BROOKSVILLE - Jason Sager burst onto the local scene early this year when he formed a nonprofit group dedicated to the traditional values of the Founding Fathers and a strict adherence to the Constitution.

Now, he plans to take his mission on a much bigger stage. On Thursday, Republican Sager announced he would run against U.S. Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite, R-Brooksville and try to capture her District 5 seat in the 2010 primary.

He admits it will be a challenge but "he's in it to win it."

"She has fantastic name recognition," Sager said. "I have respect for her (but) I do not agree with some of her voting record."

This article is a little old. But I wanted to make everyone aware of this candidate. He is challenging Ginny Brown-Waite in the primary in Florida's 5th district.

While Ginny has been on the right side of many issues, she has proven herself to be a "Party over principle" Republican. She campaigned for Dede Scozzafava in the New York 23rd race.

And while she says she was against the Obama Stimulus, she has used that money as an excuse and a "slush fund" to fund her proposals. She supported Cash for Clunkers because it wasn't spending new money, it was spending "stimulus money." She has proposed a $250 per senior give away which also would be funded with "stimulus money." She doesn't seem to understand that "stimulus money" is still borrowed money that the taxpayers will eventually have to pay back through higher taxes or inflation. If she was against the stimulus, she should be against spending that money.

This is not a "ping list," but rather just a collection of FReepers who were posting articles about NY23 and discussing that race.

I wanted to make my FReeper Friends from the Hoffman NY 23 race aware of this candiate in Florida's 5th district.

Jason Sager is a republican candidate for Congress in the August 2010 Republican Primary in Florida's 5th Congressional district.

He is running against Ginny Brown-Waite, someone who has proven to be a "Party over Principle" Republican. She supported the liberal Scozzafava in NY23 this year, and has been spending "stimulus money" like it doesn't count and won't have to be paid back by the taxpayers.

I hope that FReepers who supported Hoffman in NY23 and Harmer in CA10 can band together. This is one candidate who can help us clean up the GOP and return it to strong, constitutional principles.

I live in the 5th district of Florida, and I am doing everything I can to retire Ginny Brown-Waite. I am involved in the Sager campaign as a volunteer, and my company is working with his campaign to develop his website. But, as with any campaign, more help is always good.

Ms. Brown-Waite is likely the biggest RINO in the Florida delegation.
