Illinois Tea Party backs several GOP candidates
Chicago Daily Observer ^ | December 19 2009 | Chicago Daily Observer

llinois' Tea Party movement has not decided upon one candidate for U.S. Senate, as Illinois Review mistakenly implied Friday in the first sentence of the post "Will Co. Tea Party Alliance plans to "Stop Mark Kirk","  state Tea Party contact Denise Cattoni pointed out Saturday.

"Each individual group can endorse a candidate if they so choose; however, there are almost 40 groups in the state of Illinois.  Patrick Hughes is the Will County's choice for Senate seat; however, other groups may not, or haven't made a decision yet," Cattoni wrote via email.

"As a grassroots movement, each group is entitled to make an informed choice, and determine whether they choose to endorse a candidate publicly. Unlike most in the Republican and Democratic parties, we respect each others individual opinion."

Joliet Area Tax Day Tea Party organizer Tim Kraulidis, who announced his group's backing of Patrick Hughes, agreed with Cattoni's assessment of the movement's diverse choices for U.S. Senator in 2010.

"Will County Tea Party Alliance appreciates all four Conservative candidates in the race, Lowery, Hughes, Thomas, Arrington. Our opinion is we can all agree to disagree without being disagreeable. Unfortunately, others do not abide by this," Kralidis wrote in Illinois Review's lively comments section. "We will work as hard as possible for any one of these good candidates, were we fortunate to have one get thru the primary."

Do we need a Tea Party voters guide?

Where one can go to look up their state and find information.

I believe that Tea Partys in each state need to come together and then come together nationally. Then they need to get with the GOP and let their demands known and the GOP best listen. The GOP won’t like this but it’s time for them to realize that the people are speaking and want to take our country back. We won’t be perfect but we can be a hell of a lot better than the Democrats taking over and ruining our country.

Even Democrats are beginning to see what’s going on. The hard left Democrats want our country destroyed so they can rebuild it the way they want it..........a complete communist/socialist continent. It is my belief that if they attempt a complete take over like this, a lot of people are going to get hurt......one way or another.

85% of the people in this country don’t want what’s going on but they need to stop being the silent majority. Those on the far left need to understand that they will hurt beyond their beliefs.

They don`t need the Chicago machine, the GOP is enough of an enemy to freedom. But what do do expect when individual gain and party loyalty trumps the concept of individual freedom and loyalty to our Constitution.

Me thinks the Tea Party needs a website where voters can go and look up their State to see who the Tea Party is backing.

one of the four needs to provide some leadership ... by dropping out and endorsing one of the remaining 3. Start the process of consolidation.

Another example of why stupidity thrives in conservative politics.

"Do we need a Tea Party voters guide?"

Yes, we do....BUT:

It's needs to be of the "we report - you decide" variety, i.e. voting records on specific bills/issues, stances on American ideals and principles, adhereance to the Constitution, etc.

As the "Tea Party" evolves, there will be tones of RINO's trying to infiltrate to get their hands on voters and money...especially the money.

We have to be very careful of that, or we will just end up with "Republicans, the Sequel".

Like the RINO's we all know, the "TPINO's" will say the right things, and do the right things (in front of the camera), but in the end will be just plain ol' RINO's in a TEAPOT.

The TEA PARTY needs to be kept clean of lefties, commies, and socialists...the other parties have enough of those.

I think anyone the TEA party picks will be pretty clean and well investigated...I certainly hope so anyway. I'd like to see congress "de-criminalized" for a change. When I was young I look at that astute body as something big and important...now it's like a group shot of the mob.

If we're to take America back, then it needs to be done with forethought and conviction to the American spirit and the Constitution.

Eagles UP.

Vetting of candidates will be done.If rinos think they can usurp the Tea Party movement, they will be surprised.

Any local Tea Party backing a candidate should get that candidate to sign a pledge of principles, ethics, and voting patterns that the candidate will absolutely adhere to. Wonder if it’s possible to make it somehow legally binding; break the pledge and an pre-agreed/signed resignation from office kicks in.

If the tea party goes from populist to party it is doomed. There are numerous places to view candidates records we do not need a TP anything. Now there are leaders who have decided only conservatives need apply. The labels of RINO and TPINO have no place in populist movement. Many TP members I spoke to are single issue advocates. The movement needs every anti-socialist we can get, no litmus test required.

I was involved in IL politics and there is a real lack of quality GOP candidates. I am not refering to just conservative credentials, but the ability to win state wide and raise money. So it may come down to a vote for Kirk, or watching Dicky Durbin run the Senate with a vote majority because Kirk is RINO. By 2014 it will be too late to say oops!

Actually I am from Deerfield IL, I am military, just having retired. But I still have property in Deerfield and I am a resident. Nice thing about mil retirement, I have a year to decide to go home or relocate.
There is a TP group in town, but if they are supporting a party, a candidate or putting up there own I will nolonger go to their ralleys. The success of TP is that it is a movement. Not a party or 527. Besides, I am a big boy, I research and pick my own candidates.

Sorry, using the Wii. Had to get off. I simple advocate the TP staying out of primaries. Go Real Clear politics or SoS to see who is running. Start a 527.
