Funny how common that is. A similar thing happened to me some time ago. I know of a few other unfortunate souls who had the same problem. Must be from trying to stand up in the boat to shoot...the recoil sends you backwards and in trying to recover your balance you end up capsizing. Then all those heavy steel items in the boat sink like a rock.
I bet the same thing happened in your case.
Yes, same thing happened to me as well. There I was doing some ice-fishing out by the lake when that nasty fish gave me a tumble and my Glock collection went straight into the water...30 feet down!
My cannon on the other hand..well I guess whoever stole it outta my backyard has it as a stage prop in some theater somewhere.
