20-some years ago my mother in law gave me a magnificent hand-made quilt that was then at least 50 years old, a family heirloom and absolutely magnificent. With it she gave me a pair of white gloves, noting that it required special care and was ‘museum quality,’ of which there is no doubt.
So it sat in a blanket chest all those years. Last Spring I said, in essence, what am I DOING? So I put it on my bed and have been using ever since. It is to me insane to ‘store up treasures.’ Hopefully, those ‘kids’ will overlook the conditions attached, together with the resentments they apparently feel, and start to use and enjoy their quilts.
I’ll bet it’s a BEAUTIFUL guilt!!!! Take a pic sometime & post it please??
I’m glad you did that... I have a bunch of old ones my sister has bought me... Sure wish they could talk..
