I have to admit, the National Anthem of the Soviet Union is a catchy tune.

If the factual history of Communism were not torture, oppression, starvation, imprisonment, brutality, poverty, corruption, and rape - you could almost sing the lyrics with pride.

I have always been conflicted...I hate to admit that I like the music...it is a little more damning than admitting that you might like the Bee Gees or Karen Carpenter, but I can see how the Soviet citizens would find it a stirring tune.

Of course, as you said..."If the factual history of Communism were not torture, oppression, starvation, imprisonment, brutality, poverty, corruption, and rape..."

Yes, Pilot, the "Internationale" is a beautiful, powerful piece of music, especially when sung by a full chorus. I catch myself humming along when I hear it sometimes.

As I get older and look back, it seems like the devil has his own music ministry. Not trying to be funny, just sayin'.
