WASHINGTON Dont touch that C-SPAN dial. The Senate is planning a midnight session tonight as Democrats and Republicans fight fire with fire over health care reform.
Tonights session is not even about health care but rather the annual Department of Defense spending bill. Senators have a 1 a.m. vote on the Pentagon bill.
But with just one week to go before the Christmas deadline on health care, neither side is making this easy.
Democrats have little room to spare as the health bill must go through a series of potentially time-consuming procedural votes in coming days if Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid hopes to reach passage by Christmas.
In a more gentlemanly era, the opposition may not press for the entire time allotted for debate. Thirty hours is allowed and, sometimes, in a spirit of comity or efficiency, it has been known to happen that not all time is taken.
But this has not been that type of era. Note Wednesdays attempt by Republicans to force the hours-long reading aloud of an amendment.
By calling the midnight session, Reid is playing similarly tough while also clearing the legislative decks so health care can be ready to go once the defense bill is done.
So Robert Byrd will be up that late?
The Republicans need to man up. And wear a cup.
This is worth fighting to the last man for.
What are they going to do with baby killing when they get there. Reid is finished . He is pushing a string.
Make them read the bill. every bill. object to everything. quorum calls galore.
BUMP what you said. Nothing less than the traditional America founded by great and brave men, the greatest nation in the history of civilization, is at stake. No holds barred.
Make them read the bill. every bill. object to everything. quorum calls galore.
These traitorous cowards should be dragged out and shot in the middle of the street. I’m not even mildly apologetic for hoping for such things. The only reason why stunts like this get pulled is because they know they are mandating gobs of horsesh*t that American Citizens (sit the f*ck down Barry that doesn’t include you) DON’T want...not what they can do for their country..but ONLY what they can do for themselves...These mongrels must be stopped.
It'll be like Weekend a Bernies. They'll wheel him in to vote and he'll be in his usual comatose state. I think if he were to pass away right before the vote on Obamacare, they'd find a way to get his corpse to vote.
Now that's funny. But for sanity sake how do the Republicans at the hill wear one when they lack the package to keep it cupped?? Just saying that's all! :)
Senator Coburn, make ‘em read the whole damn bill. Defense bill, too.
Drudge headline
DEMS PLANS CHRISTMAS EVE VOTE!
The Republicans need to stop this bill.
I’m going to guess that you haven’t been following the action in the senate, because the Republicans have been magnificent, which is why Reid has had to resort to this 1:00 AM session in order to try to keep his promise to his lord Obama.
I see the headline but I really find it hard to believe myself
May Gubmint continue to ruin Christmas before the public.
Perhaps the public will wake up.

The aide that rolls him in will also have to pick up his arm and place it on the right vote-a meter YEA, and hope the weight of his arm, will depress the right button on the vote-a-meter.
Mission acconplished! Back to the nursing home he goes.
You’re welcome! Add it to the ping list.
I have been hearing on the radio all week that the pubs will be there for Chrsitmas and New Years Eve to stop them.
