IIRC it was Gandhi who said that the three words, NO I WON'T are the most powerful ones in the English language. However we are not dealing with peaceful people here. The KOS kiddies are fanatics and will resort to violence to get there way. Remember the guy beat up for selling t-shirts outside of the health-care town hall.

A weapon is not always a prescription to violence, but it's presence will often prevent violence. After all when they beat up the t-shit vendor the Obamathugs only had their fists. Violence can happen very easily when everyone is unarmed. But when everyone is armed there tends to be a natural hesitancy to become violent. SEIU and ACORN are not Jihadi who want to die for their cause. They just want your money, and they want to live to spend it.

When ACORN or SEIU comes for you would you rather have examples of the collected works of Gandhi or John Browning. God may have created all men but Sam Colt made them all equal.

Neither were the Brits at the time and place. Gandhi was jailed, and so were many of his followers. The tide turned for him when hundreds of his followers were killed.

Put at blood-and-gut level, Gandhi's strategy of non-violent resistance involves showing the immorality of the oppressor through said oppressor jailing and killing people who don't deserve it. In order for the strategy to work, the innocents have to be jailed and/or killed.

When spelled out, it gets a leetle less inspiring.
