I think it’s simpler than all of that. They hate her for the same reason they hated Reagan: she’s conservative and happy at the same time.
Liberals are not happy. And they hate happy people.
People who don’t like her are among the same ones who scream “Bush destroyed the world” but really have nothing to back that up with. Or the ones who don’t like Cheney because he was a rich oil man, or nonsense like that.
