The 21 year old daughter of some friends, just started a job a few weeks ago, insurance has not kicked in yet. Last week, monday, she went into the hospital with unknown bumps and sores on her. She has had 3 MRI's, 3 CATscans, numerous X-rays, numerous IV's. She's been in ICU, some heart floor, some neurology floor.
She had a doctor stay w/ her all night because they weren't sure she was going to make it. One Dr. was taking blood for a blood gas test, and Bridgie started to cry before hand. She told him she didn't know how she was going to pay him, and he told her not to worry about paying him.
She's uninsured, been in the hospital 10 days now, in different dept. with different tests, and probably now has 10's of thousands of $$ in medical expenses, and yet nobody is kicking her out, or holding back care.
I know of someone that after changing around their entire life of addictions had to serve some jail time. After getting out of jail completely reformed ended up in ICU and machines near death with no health insurance. They never kicked him out and cared for him but when his wife tried to get on certain programs that allow a payoff or writeoff of the bills because of there low income. He did not qualify because he was white. They have bills now up the ying yang.
If he would have been a black, a minority, or mexican he would have owed nothing.
What does she have? What were the bumps and sores?

A lot of people odn’t know this, but hospitals, by law, must cover the uninsured- they have a ‘slush fund’ set aside to cover these folks that the government alots them every year- As well, if you’re below certain income level, you also qualify for medicaid (although it takes a long time to actually get approved, but hospitals can’t refuse to treat while the person is applying)
Illegal imigrants can’t even be refused treatment by law (which is assinine law, but it is what it is) So all this ‘there are 34 million uninsured people’ nonsense is just that- nonsense- while they don’t have insurance, they DO have the right to be treated under the law- and even if this healthcare bill gets passed, there is still goign to be 24 million uninsured (who will then be fined up to $3200 I beleive- which, if you htink about it, is one of the most cruel thigns around- demanding that poor get insurance, and then penalizing poor people who can’t afford to have insurance) Congress doesn’t care about ‘insuring the poor’ as they claim- they ONLY care about extracting money from EVERYONE via mandatory health insurance, and if folks don’t buy it, they will be fined- the far left loons are ruthless heartless morons who speak out of both sides of their mouths- NEVER ever trust AN^YTHING they say- they claim one hting, and do quite the opposite- they try to make themselves look like Robin Hood, while the TRUTH is that they are Saddam Husseins or Nazis (their ideology is VERY Nazi-like- who tried to look like the Savior while trying to hide their forked tails and horns)
