how true!
when my daughter was looking for help to go to school, it was a no go, as she is white, single without children, and knows who her parents are.

Have her get certifications and then she can get a solid job and work her way through school.

heheh, when I started college, I ran into the same issue. I was living with my mom and step-dad at the time and, according to the FAFSA report, my step-dad made too much money for me to qualify for financial aid. Nevermind the fact that there were all the normal bills a normal household has, he made too much money - IIRC, about $60K at the time (1998/1999).

We certainly weren't living high on the horse at the time, either. He drove a 1978 Plymouth Volare, mom drove a 1989 Chevy Caprice, and I had my 1985 Mercury Lynx...nothing fancy by any means. Either way, that ended up forcing me to work my way through school (a decision I don't regret).
