Declaring that she was honored and proud to run with him, former Alaska governor Sarah Palin pushed back hard Wednesday against a report that she had disrespected Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) by blacking out his name on a sun visor she wore on vacation.
The website TMZ accused Palin of a frontal attack on Sen. John McCain during a Hawaii vacation this week: Sarah chose to wear a visor from her campaign -- a visor that was emblazoned with the former presidential candidate's name ... that is, until Palin redacted McCain's name with a black marker.
But Palin said in a statement to POLITICO that she was just trying to be incognito -- to go unrecognized and shield her children and husband, Todd, from paparazzi.
The hotel where she was staying had to chase away five photographers, a friend said.
Palin said in the statement to POLITICO: I am so sorry if people took this silly incident the wrong way. I adore John McCain, support him 100 percent and will do everything I can to support his reelection. As everyone knows, I was honored and proud to run with him. And Todd and I were with him in D.C. just a week ago. So much for trying to be incognito."
The Palins were taking a break from a three-and-a-half-week book tour for her million-copy-selling memoir, Going Rogue: An American Life. Palin has signed more than 59,000 books -- an average of 1,750 per stop -- and has traveled more than 19,000 miles by plane and bus. She has spent 115 hours -- or 4.8 days -- signing books in 33 cities in 25 states. Her stops have included five military bases.

How about whatever she wears is no ones damn business. she can wear whatever she damn well pleases. TMZ and other media idiots should just leave her the heck alone, she is on vacation with her family. Funny how the press doesn’t talk about the AWESOME shirt she was wearing about how if you don’t love America, get the hell out. That is one awesome shirt, but no, they focus on a hat, who cares
I explained the “sellout” comment. I didn’t mean she was “selling out” in a treacherous way, just missing the opportunity to help keep the American people from continuing to get screwed, something she normally seems intent on doing.
Technically, since no one’s announced and anything could happen in three years, it’s probably ridiculous to say I “support” this or that candidate. Now who do I like? Out of the people who look like possible contenders today, Palin!
That may seem paradoxical to you, but the same reason I like her is the same reason I hate to see her endorse a RINO. I think Sarah’s the most powerful, persuasive conservative voice on the scene, and I hate to see that ability wasted electing a aisle-reaching, ankle-grabbing liberal-sucking, Constitution shredding RINO like McCain.
She’s conservative, and she seems to have an unusual ability to connect with people, including the conservative values in the middle-of-the-roaders. I can’t stand Mitt, despise McCain, find Huckabee pathetically amusing, don’t know enough about Jindal and so on.
In fact one of the reasons I hate to see her endorse McCain, if in fact that’s what she’s doing, is that I’m afraid it might tarnish her image with conservatives (although with the RINO’s on the field, it probably wouldn’t hurt her).
I'm reading the book as time allows. I'm sure I'll get there eventually.
She doesnt have a mean bone in her body.
AFAIK no one is saying she shouldn't endorse McCain because she should be trying to get back at him, but because there are only so many Senate seats in play so it should go to the most conservative candidate.
I see some folks don’t see the big picture.
JD Hayworth is not running. There are some issues I may disagree with McCain but the imbecile, Simcox who is running against him is beyong the fringe.
He is anti war, has many unrealistic views that border on StormFront. I heard him interviewed the other week and
Simcox does not have the adult structure to be a councilman
let alone a Senator.
Disagree with some of McCain’s views but he is doing some of the heavy lifting against ObamaCare.
One of the main reasons many on FR who don’t like McCain
is he understands who the enemy is and knows we must win the war against the IslamOfascists.
His youngest son is in the Marines and based here in San Diego at Camp Pendleton and has served a tour in Iraq.
WTF.
Could someone please verify this quote for me?
If it's true, I'm crossing Palin off my list in 2012.
Hey I wish McCain was not running. Would make things much easier for everyone. I don’t like McCain, didn’t like the way he ran his campaign, didn’t like seeing his idiotic staffers smearing Sarah every chance they got(By the way, why the hell does Sean Hannity have Nicolle Wallace on TV again) but this is an endorsement I saw coming a mile away. Just reading her book, knowing how classy she is, she won’t go and root against him, it just won’t happen. Do I wish she would, of course. I would love to see McCain’s ass out of the Senate and a true Conservative in. Just because she supports McCain, doesn’t mean McCain will win
I thought he already announced? If not, then from your mouth to God’s ears.
Palin wasn’t on your list to start with.
Since she is not anti war and won’t legalize marajuana
she would never be on your list.
Did I predict this or what?
You are such an amazing 1%er.
And why would she, considering she is on the record as supporting amnesty for illegals?
Her disastrous Univision interview last fall, combined with the contributions her PAC made to McCain's primary and general election campaigns--money that McCain's minions used to engage in push polling to smear J.D. Hayworth--and now her open endorsement of McCain is just too much.
As far as I am concerned, she isn't Reagan in a skirt; she's McCain in a skirt.
Not really, but it's what you SHOULD have been asking. Because it's what the thread was about. Just because I criticize the actions of an individual, doesn't mean that I oppose them for election to a certain office. But Palin wasn't supposed to be the topic. The topic was who conservatives (including Palin) should be supporting in the AZ Senate race. In fact I'll tell you straight out, you're misreading my attitude about Palin. Read my other later replies.
At least I'm not a lemming eager to run over the edge of the cliff, something I can't exactly say holds true for you.
I see the StormFrom Simcox lemmings are rattling their cages.
Palin is doing very well in her war with the media, but I hope she is very clear, that whatever she or her family does, innocent or planned, at home or in public, if it can be used against her by the media, it will.
Fair or not, she has to be exceptionally careful. As does her family. That is a big downside in her relationship with the media, and as republican political star.
Must have hit your head really bad.
You just proved you don’t read her editorials and articles.
She is not for amnesty and does not support illegals.
You can repeat your lie on everyother post but it doesn’t make it the truth.
JR supports Sarah. Tell it to him
I bet you're skeert........
:-)
Rats. I was reading too fast, and thought you said it didn't necessarily mean he'd run. I still hate the idea. If she endorses him and he loses, she may lose some political capital, and I hate to think of the alternative. Everything having been said, I realize she has to do what she has to do.
So if she was not even on your list in the first place, why on earth wuold you make this false post then?
“If it's true, I'm crossing Palin off my list in 2012.”
Out to spread as much anti-Palin disinformation as you can huh?
You are so obviously transparent, it's not even funny.
Even if she didn’t come out publicly and endorse him, everyone would pretty much know how she stands. She states so clearly in her book. Do I agree with it, of course not, but what can ya do, she’s loyal to the guy. Even when he and his hired goons treat her like crap she still supports him
