If Obama and his people were not tactical buffoons who appear to lack any sense of how to use their political capital, they would have passed their entire agenda by the end of June and you and I would now be living in the People’s Republic of the United States.
Levin was not wrong, it’s just that as slick as they ran their campaign I’m sure he did not anticipate what a bumbling administration they’d be running. That being said they are still managing to achieve most of their agenda anyhow.
to give just one small example, in hindsight I’m sure they wish they had used their first 90 days to ram thru Obamacare with the Public Option and Cap n Tax instead of the Porkulus bill.
Come on, excuse city. You are saying Levin assumed they were brilliant? Anyone thinking outside of ‘Levin's bunker’ knows and knew Clinton had similar problems in 1993.
In Obama's case they had to pass what was sold as a ‘stimulus’ program first (just a payoff to lib groups.) Pelosi made sure that was a dud. They were hoping the economy would recover on it's own. Economy and jobs polled #1 concern.
Health reform proposals started after that. Health care was pure quicksand. Obama and Liberals believed similar what Levin was telling his listeners,(my neighbors all tried to tell me this too) , that Obama’s personality could pass anything. But Obama ran out of money, much was his fault, some was just bad luck. So now they couldn't do what Bush did and put Health Care (Senior Presciption drugs) on the national credit card, they had to raise taxes and other unpleasant stuff up front. Add Tea Parties and Town hall meetings. Add concerns about Abortion like 1994. Add the Senate. Add illegals. Add mounting job losses, add concern over grwoing debt..
But back in November Levin didn't want you to expect any of this stuff. He wanted you to think we would all die if McCain lost.
