I can’t freakin’ believe this. My grandfather, who was a POW in Nazi Germany, would be rolling in his grave. His experiences as a POW were unpleasant, to say the least.

Acknowledged, and with no Disrespect intended to his memory. Not all vacations need to be fun and relaxing, tho', in order to be worthwhile. The Lough Derg Pilgrimage wouldn't be for everyone, and most people wouldn't enjoy it. Same with visiting Killing Fields of Cambodia, or doing the Nijmegen March.
I wouldn't mind doing any of these, just once — because they provide a really different slice of life, and at the end you get to return alive and you get bragging rights. Much more interesting pub talk than "my vacation at Disneyland".
The POW Camp vacation would be lots of fun for anyone brought up idolizing The Greatest Generation. I don't mean "fun" as in FUN, but "fun" in that you get to step back thru time and live life as it was lived in their boots. Who wouldn't want to do that?? I'm good for that, anytime.
I might draw the line at the Kidnap Vacation, even tho' it sounds like a riot. To do that properly it would be necessary to run the risk of not coming out alive, and for that risk to be real. An acceptable risk if not dealing with bozos, and I'm not convinced from what I read in the article that Bozo isn't running that outfit. And, too, it sounds kinky — which makes me wonder how realistic it could be. And besides, you can get kidnapped for free by vacationing in Mexico.
