Three police officers were shot early Monday evening and a suspect injured during a drug raid at 12 Hollis St. in the citys West End, the police said.
Police Chief Dean M. Esserman said the officers were wearing coats and jackets labeled Providence Police and were making a forced entry at an address for which they had a search warrant. Two were shot just as they crossed the threshold, Esserman said from Rhode Island Hospital, where the police were gathering in droves in a show of respect for their injured colleagues.

If your going to break down someone’s door, you should expect to get shot...
And if someone shoots a police officer for executing a valid search warrant in connection with scumbags selling illegal drugs, then the shooter should expect to go away for a very long time
My friend, with the amount of freedoms we have lost already in this "War On (Some) Drugs", the last thing you want is the police... local, state or other wise treating anything even remotely close to a war.
“scumbags”
Even scumbags have a right to defend their “castle”.
Keep it in mind that they aren’t guilty of anything (their presumed to be innocent) until they are convicted.
“go away for a very long time”
I agree, but that’s not the way it should be... They need to knock and serve the warrant to the presumed innocent party.

Before you go begging for an uptick in the War on Some Drugs, perhaps you should check out this link and see how many innocent lives these no-knock SWAT tactics have taken, in addition to how many have been totally botched:
It’s absolutely ridiculous that this goes on in the USA. As the article says, it’s an epidemic of ‘isolated incidents’....
So... What would be the excuse for breaking down someone’s door? To make sure evidence wasn’t flushed?
I call BS on that...
Even if they found evidence the perp is going to be back on the street in 24 hours after putting up $100 in bond.
...Also, it’s common practice for home invaders to identify themselves as police. How would you know they were police? You can buy jackets and badges online...
Agreed. In order to prevent political obstructions, focus the fancy tactics and gear on drug dealers—not reports of other crimes. And make sure that the teams go to the right addresses. Chat with local citizens to get information for lists of drug houses and individuals. Good PR is important, and those suggestions could go a long way toward getting community support. Most citizens want the dealers out of their neighborhoods.
Police work needs guru approaches, and too many of the lifetime civilians (no combat MOS training from the Army, Marines or SEALs,...) now in police work hate guru approaches. ...gets in the way of orders from certain pillars of their communities (sometimes those who front the big drug money). ...not to mention certain kinds of local lawyers, bankers...all. Yeah. We need a real war on drugs, but it will take more courage and dedication than we’re seeing.
...And besides, between breakfast and lunch I can design a system to preserve evidence that gas been “flushed”...
Hopefully the LEO’s will be OK,,,
The best way to open a door with the bad guys on the other
side is with C-4/Det-Cord,,,
The best way to keep from getting shot going through said
door is to use the damned Shield!...
“The best way to open a door with the bad guys on the other side is with C-4/Det-Cord,,,”
Why not just ring the doorbell? The reason cops get shot is because they come in with guns blazing.
Oh, I get it... that’s not as much fun!
He or she is presumed innocent in a court of law...A warrant isn’t issued unless there is cause.
Arrests are not made on people who are presumed innocent.
A prosecutor does not take the accused to trial presuming innocence.
Only in court is the accused presumed innocent until all evidence is presented by the prosecution and defense and the jury deliberates.
Gator, I watched the video and I can’t say that I got the connection.
No. A man is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
It's truly sad how far we've come.
“Only in court is the accused presumed innocent until all evidence is presented by the prosecution and defense and the jury deliberates.”
What a stupid thing to say.
So what your saying is that it’s OK to shoot them before trail?
No mater what you say, a person who has not been convicted is presumed innocent...
That Onion video was funny, Gator. Thanks.
Who decides what the word, 'freedom' means? Us, the people, or them, the government?
