There is one consolation for Mayor Gavin Newsom now that he's dropped out of the governor's race - he won't have to take a $72,477-a-year pay cut.
Newsom, who earns $246,464 as mayor of San Francisco, would have seen his pay drop to $173,987 if he had won the governor's race, as a result of the salary cuts imposed on state elected officers last week.

" Former state Sen. and ex-state Democratic Party Chairman Art Torres just saw his salary at the taxpayer-funded California Institute of Regenerative Medicine triple to $225,000 a year."
So a prerequisite for being a director at the California Institute of Regenerative Medicine is having been the state Democratic Party Chairman. Who knew?
If I misrecall, Art went to prison and came out rather female acting.

Notice she made these comments about the town hall protestors and Tea Party participants but nothing about the crowd that fire bombed the UC Berkeley chancellor’s residence on Friday night. She won’t criticize San Francisco because the city is her base.
When they say it isn't about the money, you can best believe it is ONLY about the money.
In light of UCB, somehow I doubt she will ever say THIS again any time soon!

Always found it interesting that Pelosi is always elected with less than 200K votes. I guess nobody votes in her district?
