COPENHAGEN – The atmosphere at the U.N. climate conference grew more tense and divisive after talks were suspended for most of Monday's session — a sign of the developing nations' deep distrust of the promises by industrial countries to cut greenhouse gas emissions.

...

The wrangle over emission reductions froze a timetable for government ministers to negotiate a host of complex issues. Though procedural in nature, the Africa-led suspension went to the core of suspicions by poor countries that wealthier ones were trying to soften their commitments and evade penalties for missing their targets.

...

The negotiations were meant to extend the Kyoto pact for at least another five years, with deeper emission targets for rich countries. ..

The Africans protested when Hedegaard wanted to lump all the talks together.

"We are seeing the death of the Kyoto Protocol," Djemouai Kamel of Algeria, the head of the 50-nation Africa group, told reporters.

Tense , huh?

I hope that doesn’t raise their CO2 output significantly.

We may need to put them in a special quarantine area.

“...a sign of the developing nations’ deep distrust of the promises by industrial countries to cut greenhouse gas emissions.”

Can you believe this fool wrote this crap?

They want the money. They don’t give a $hit about whether emissions are reduced or not.

Yeah, sure. All over Africa cowherds and goatherds and camel riders and tribal dancers are just horrified that we aren’t doing more about the environment.

Actually, they don’t expect to get paid, either. It’s their corrupt rulers who want to get paid.

Maybe they’ll abandon cap n trade now, since it seems to only feed organized crime.

And of course disorganized crime (government sanctioned).
