Just before yesterdays White House jobs summit, Mitt Romney minced no words in blasting President Obamas economic policies.
Like other presidents before him, Barack Obama inherited a recession. But unlike them, he has made it worse, not better, Romney wrote in an opinion piece published yesterday in USA Today.
The former Massachusetts governor - who made his name and fortune at private equity firm Bain Capital, ran for the GOP presidential nomination last year, and could very well run again in 2012 - derides Obamas economic know-how.
His failure to stem the unemployment tide should not have been a surprise. With no experience whatsoever in the world of employment and business formation, he had no compass to guide his path, Romney wrote.
Romney also joined in the GOP criticism of White House remarks that the $787 billion economic stimulus is working, and accused the administration of trying to disguise the truth by touting inflated figures of jobs created.
Focusing solely on jobs created while ignoring the far greater numbers of jobs lost is Harry Houdini economics, he added.
Romney laid out his own 10-point plan, including freezing stimulus money that has not been spent yet and redirecting it to the private sector; granting more business tax breaks; not allowing George W. Bushs tax cuts to expire at the end of 2010; ditching the cap-and-trade climate change legislation; and approving free trade agreements with Colombia and other countries.
Democratic National Committee spokesman Hari Sevugan defended the stimulus program, citing a study this week from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office that estimated the stimulus saved or created between 600,000 and 1.6 million jobs through September...

As conservatives, we are fighting to influence the primaries and who will be in them, and revealing the true Romney to the vocal and activist people that come here for information, is one of the most useful duties that we can perform.
Mitt only managed to win one election in his long political life, and he slinked out of that office with no chance of reelection and a 34% approval rating, and after being the fourth republican in that office, his dismal performance turned it over to the democrats.
Reagan was one of my favorite TV performers, Palin is not a TV performer.
Because conservatives have examined him, watched him campaigning, watched him spend 150 million dollars marketing himself with little result, and they have not only dismissed him, but have come to despise and distrust the man totally.
At some point keeping an "open" mind on an unacceptable candidate ends, and then the energy shifts to making sure that he is prevented from purchasing the leadership of the movement that he is not a member of and has spent much of his life openly hating and fighting.
Besides you are an incredible phony, looking at your posting history shows you as nothing but a committed Romneybot, it is not a pleasant read, and all that comparing of Romney to Reagan (and Reagan to Romney), very sad.
Accept only the facts.
Bye from politics Mittster!
-—”Besides you are an incredible phony, looking at your posting history shows you as nothing but a committed Romneybot, it is not a pleasant read, and all that comparing of Romney to Reagan (and Reagan to Romney), very sad.”
Not a phony at all... Yes, I was impressed with Romney’s ability to debate in 2008, but at this point in time, I think he’s damaged goods and is not the optimal candidate. I’ve stated so in my recent posts (if your reading comprehension skills didn’t catch that)... Does that make me a phony? That’s a far cry from a Romneybot in case you hadn’t noticed.
Why don’t you offer critique of my current support for Bachman or Mike Rogers for 2012? Does my support for them make me a phony? These are real conservative fighters.
Romney debated very well against McCain, but McCain’s dishonest people floated that lie that “Romney had a timetable for withdrawal from Iraq” on the eve of the Florida primary. The loss of that Primary was the turning point. Romney decisively nailed McCain on that lie in the California debate, but it was too late.
In 2008, we didn’t have very good choices with the pathetically inarticulate and uninspiring McCain as the alternative.
I know a lot of people here harbor a permanent hatred for Romney for his past career in Massachusetts and you think he’s flip flopped now and he is being somebody who he is not, hence the vitriol.
Suppose Romney WERE to be elected (which I don’t think will happen), I’m guessing your worst fear would be that a Pres Romney would pull a complete “Manchurian Candidate” on us and campaign one way but then impose strict gun laws, liberalize abortion laws even more than they are, embrace gays, and impose socialized medicine on us, and be a Carter in foreign policy. Right?
I just didn’t see that happening, in spite of his past and was willing to give it a try given his business knowledge and articulateness. That does not make me a phony. I had to overlook some things I don’t endorse about him, especially his Mormonism, but we don’t always get the perfect candidate who embodies virtually all of our values like we did with Reagan.
Your points about still spending energy on attacking Romney because you seem to fear him in the primaries are well-taken, but the way I see it, he won’t be a factor because he will be too easy to criticize for his changes of positions, for his white/good looks (for the racists in our society that notice those things), and for his Mormonism (which I’m not excited about either). In short, there’s damaged goods there AS I’VE STATED BEFORE...
And note there are not damaged goods with the other prospective candidates I mentioned.
So why not put positive energy into the really exceptional other potential candidates you like? If it’s Palin, then so be it.
I really think this stubbornness in going after Romney who most likely won’t be a threat at all, is a waste of Freepers time. We’ve got bigger fish to fry, namely the despicable Obama Regime.
Your "Deep but shallow" comment sounds like a Romney talking point. He can talk out of both sides of his mouth too. I don't hate Romney, but I do hate what he stands for because he stands for nothing. He will say whatever he believes he has to in order to win. Though we only have well planned out, group tested words for his conservative beliefs, he has plenty of liberal acts and words in his history which he now says have nothing to do with him.
The reason he is disliked so deeply, so thoroughly, so completely, is that he will lie to your face when the truth would better serve him. He assembles conservative counsel to determine what he should say to conservatives because, as a liberal, he hasn't a clue as to what conservatives think. He does everything he can to try to pull the wool over conservative eyes because once you know the truth about him, there is no way any conservative could support him.
Pro-choice, pro government, pro gay, anti gun, anti family, Mitt Romney is in an elitist group -- one of the republicans Hillary Clinton can easily run to the right on.
The McCain/Palin ticket was up ++8 pts. days prior to September 18th, 2008.
So the RomneyTeam attacked Gov. Palin and her children to throw Election2008.
Who benefits most from Sanford meltdown? Californian (that's right) Mitt Romney
"Peeking Out From the McCain Wreckage: Mitt Romney"
"Someone's got to say it: IS MITT ROMNEY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBAMA'S VICTORY?"
"Vanity: Team Romney Sabotaged Palin and Continuing to Do So?"
"Romney Supporters Trashing Palin"
"Romney advisors sniping at Palin?"
DBM tips hand in releasing the line they would use to destroy him if he becomes the Republican nominee.
Is it not more than coincidence that RomneyBOTs like
yourself always defend Obama and his Marxism first?
Is Romney nothing more than a White Obama?
Mitt-Witt is exactly that a Nitt-witt.
He supports gun control. abortion, nationalized healthcare.
Tell me just what conservative position this socialist holds?
-—”Is it not more than coincidence that RomneyBOTs like
yourself always defend Obama and his Marxism first?”
Dude, you’re just completely irrational on this one. When did I “defend Obeyme and his Marxism???” When???
I detest the M.F... Period.
No more responses to you. I needn’t waste my time.
The only guy that you expend years of effort defending and promoting is Mitt Romney.
Like a lot of Romneybots, you adopted the posture of saying I am not a Romneybot, but let me show up on all these threads and post exactly like one.
