I call BS on this story. I routinely buy anyone in uniform lunch, dinner or a drink. I often just pay the tab on the way out and do not say anything. Just as often I go over and shake hands with everyone. This area has both an Army and AF unit(s) that have been to the sandbox multiple times. We have suffered many causalities including the loss of a Chinook and her crew in Afcrapistan.

I can believe she’s having trouble adjusting but these reporters will manipulate people for their own purposes.

Ditto. The only place I've not been able to do that was in NYC, during Fleet Week, after 9-11.

No one in a uniform paid for anything, anywhere, as far as I could see. I stopped trying to pick up tabs after the first 1/2 dozen or so times.

There were a good bunch of sailors, and more than a few Marines, sporting some serious hangovers after that particular port of call. :-)
