“I won’t change. I’m a social worker, you know.”
That right there is the problem with liberals. They believe in societal roles and stereotypes far more than conservatives do. Certain things to them are absolutely incompatible. Social worker/conservative, black/conservative, young woman/pro-life. This is quite the paradox coming from people who demand consideration of “gray areas.”
My wife is a federal employee, yet still manages to be a conservative.
I think the difference is that if you’re ALREADY liberal and work for the government, or become a social worker, then you use your employment as an excuse.
However, if you’re already a conservative and take such a job, you do it for whatever reasons you feel you should, but it doesn’t change you.
