That’s fair and you’re right to be skeptical. But don’t forget the circumstances now, are much more dire than in 1994, when there was backlash on social (the early Clinton veer left with don’t ask/don’t tell, etc.) and fiscal policy (hillarycare). But the economy wasn’t nearly in such dire straights.

That just may be the impetus needed to ensure that good leadership arises.

That and the mere fact that people are SICK of not being listened to - so unless another crop comes in and LISTENS AND GOVERNS well, I think you will see a 3rd party come in an soak in most of the GOP (certainly it’s conservative base - and a good chunk of independents). I truly think Ds will be licking their wounds after the next 2 elections.

I think 2010 is all about stopping this runaway socialist/commie trainwreck. I think most Conservatives know this and will support Conservative Republicans all over the country. But 2014 and 2016 may be about a fiscally sound party (with a Conservative base) arise to challenge poor Republican leadership, if such persists. Either they remake themselves as a Conservative party, or the Republicans will be challenged and usurped, imho.

Those people at the top, had better start listening and leading well.
