“The Democrats I’ve talked to here in MO think Palin is a moron...”
Magritte, does your screen name come from the artist? I wouldn’t put Magritte in the same category as some other creators of postmodern insults to humanity—but I would liken Palin to a rare, beautiful piece of art in a postmodern, abstract art collection. People raised on vomit-that-passes-as-art don’t know what to do with it or how to handle REAL art. So they dismiss it and bash it, all the while being completely fascinated by it.
And maybe that’s why I’m so defensive of Palin—because she sheds light on all that’s wrong in our deluded culture. As a woman, it meant a lot to have someone like her “represent” me, considering how much my sex has been degraded in our culture.
Anyhow, the reason why your Democrat friends think she’s a moron is because you might possibly kinda-sorta agree with them to some degree and have failed to adequately defend her. I don’t know why it’s so hard for people to do simple research: her record is quite thorough and impressive and included more foreign policy experience than Obama had. Alaska is not a piece of dirt, it is a fascinating state that is especially relevant now considering the debate over things like energy policy and climate change. If you look at some of her old interviews as governor or even read her book, you’ll see she’s not folksy dimwit—but is actually quite thoughtful and yes, WELL-READ (especially in US History)...
People like to creative alternate universes for themselves to suit their own appetites. Included in that alternative universe is a false Palin caricature of their own making based on their own lies. * Also included in that false universe are even bigger lies and ideas: that man can change the weather for example, or that humans descended from monkeys, or that a precious work of God is a mere “fetus” to be disposed of. It’s an ugly pattern isn’t it?
