NUKES, baby...! Pebble-bed reactors; small, safe, and proven. Plug-in cars will make them a necessity.
Wasn’t it Maggie Thatcher that inadvertently started this whole eco-fecal warming cult because the ‘environmentalists’ at the time wouldn’t get on board with nuclear power.....
Yep. And yet there are so many people who love them and see them as the “answer.”
I’m 100% with you. Ugliest thing to ever happen to our beautify nation. And you don’t dare buy a house in the country these days because they will pop up next door to you without any warning at all.
High maintenance costs on a widely distributed system. Mismatch of load curve to demand curve. Can you imagine the forests of these rusting hulks that will exist when the public trough goes dry?
If it can go boom it’s not safe.

That’s why we have safeguards.
Your water heater can go boom too, but it has safeguards.
If your referring to nuclear, it can't. At least not in a nuclear way. Safer, than any chemical plant I've ever worked at, and I've worked at lots of both.
We should and, I believe, we will be forced to, go nuclear in time. Its the only form of energy production we have now that can meet our needs.
Close to 80% of France's electricity comes from those "unsafe" generating plants. Which, of course, WE pioneered.
Things like three mile island keeps me on edge.
But my water heater doesn’t have radio active waste that has a half life of 25,000 years.
That and the fact they are trying to rip down hydro-electric dams.
Why??? It's still there and producing electricity and without incident since 1979. And unlike, say Centralia, Harrisburg is still there too, perhaps unfortunately.
I'm more concerned about breathing pollution from coal plants or seeing land stripped for mining, or seeing potentially explosive natural gas pipelines snacked throughout the country.
If the half-life is 25,000 years it's not very dangerous. It's when the half-life is 25 years is the time to be concerned.
