I am a native of the Houston area... You obviously have no idea what you’re talking about.
While Houston has a vocal Democrat party, it’s hardly a cesspool. Austin is in fact much worse. However, if our police could do their jobs, our city would be nicer - but it’s light years better than Austin; the liberal mecca of Texas.

I lived in Houston about 15 years ago and parts of it weren't so bad then. Some of the friendliest people you've ever met - I'd never had friendly conversations initiated by perfect strangers than I've seen in Houston.
I guess those people moved out over the last decade.
