But the press is damn well a fifth column.
My point about the Associated Press, tho, is precisely that we do not have a free press in America. We have an "associated" press - and that association destroys independence.

We grew up thinking we had many sources of news, just as we have thought that we had "independent peer review" of our science. Well, the Climategate emails put paid to the idea that "peer review" is necessarily independent review - and in reality our "free" press is not an independent press.

Once the press is homogenized, anyone who thinks of politics as a business opportunity had every incentive to align themselves with that prevailing propaganda wind. A propaganda wind which first promotes journalism, which is does nothing but talk - and then promotes everyone else who does nothing but talk and criticize people who take responsibility to get things done.

Journalism criticizes and second guesses businessmen, the police, the military - as a means of promoting themselves and the union leaders, plaintiff lawyers, and everyone else who is like the journalist. Including, most especially, the politicians upon whom journalists bestow the positive labels such as "progressive" and "liberal."

"Anthropogenic Global Warming" is simply one more avenue by which journalism and its allies can attack those who don't join in their complaint brigade. So no one should marvel that AGW "scientists" can no more do wrong in the eyes of journalists than Barak Obama can.

Nicely stated as usual, my friend.

Now...the thing's been defined ad nauseum; so, the question's how may it be helped to die faster? ;^) LOL
