Ultimately, the safety of air travel — and the safety of the nation itself — rests with “sheepdogs” like us. Remember, when every second counts, the police will be there in minutes. We are the new Minutemen.
So how do we employ the Minutemen on an otherwise routine flight? (Keep in mind that the authorities don’t trust us, even though we’re the good guys.)
We can’t exactly tell the flight attendant during boarding that “I’ve got your back” or she might freak out and alert the authorities — about us! And we can’t ask her to seat us next to any suspicious Middle Eastern types, either, for the same reason.
Should we go up to the ticket counter before the flight and offer our services as impromptu bouncers? Nah. Wear our “junior air marshal” badges? Yell “Let’s Roll!” while boarding? Again, doubtful.
I’m at a loss. Anybody got any creative suggestions?

They can’t bounce us for wearing AMERICAN FLAG lapels or other FLAG jewelry, can they - kind of like a signal to the crew who is ready to roll if needed

Or we could have divisions of speciality . . .
“FRR” FR recon . . . observing, reporting to officials or other FR button wearing folks, suspicious stuff
“FRTM” FR, TRAINED MILITARY NOT ON ACTIVE DUTY WILLING TO TAKE ACTION.
“FRDA” FR DOCUMENTING ARCHIVIST—ANYTHING HAPPENS, will have photos and at least a verbal or written narrative made immediately. Will interview fellow passengers as much as I can.
Perhaps we could even have JimRob authenticate such buttons somehow . . . to guard somewhat against counterfeits.
Would take some doing but this is war, folks. We do well to TAKE ACTION . . . not wish we had later.
