"
what disturbs most people is not the science of genetics, which is hardly arguable, but the use of evolution to disprove religious authority. "
And this is why so many people feel justified in calling "Darwinianism" (and evolution generally) a religion. It's too late to deny that Darwinianism is a religion. Too many people have uttered too many philosophical and religious conclusions and value-judgments based on Darwinian thought, to now deny that it has become a philosophy, indeed, a religion.

"And this is why so many people feel justified in calling "Darwinianism" (and evolution generally) a religion. " Then let me repeat; Many, including major religious authorities do not hold that evolution is incompatible with Christianity and does not undermine Church authority. To take your argument to its conclusion would be to assert that the Catholic Church's acceptance of Theistic Evolution is the endorsement of a different religion. That is absurd.

lol, historically The Catholic church has never had a problem absorbing other religions. It’s called syncretism. They’ve even made overtures to Islam, finding a common link in Mary.

"The Catholic church has never had a problem absorbing other religions. Its called syncretism." LOL. There is a significant difference between syncretism, which is identifying common points, references, terminology, or areas of agreement, and absorption. One need look no further than Genesis to find many examples of Egyptian, Babylonian and pagan references incorporated. That doesn't mean that Judaism "absorbed" anything from those cultures of faiths.

What??!! No more Anti-Romney ads? Crevo threads once again relegated to the religion forum?
Are the inmates now running the asylum?
Well, at least you talk tough...

Thanks. Migraines kinda take all the fun out of life. It can’t last too many days longer. Usually, ten is the limit.

I guess not. I guess the whole old testament and some of the new never has anything to say about worshipping foreigner’s gods. Maybe King Solomon was unjustly accused

" Maybe King Solomon was unjustly accused Maybe not. The adoption of a word, concept, myth, or fable to help explain or communicate an idea isn't worship. Every language carries forward or borrows words. Every culture carries remnants of its past and its contacts. Every religion relies heavily upon both language and culture to express itself.
The large waves that follow seismic activity are called tsunami's in English. That doesn't mean those American's on the west coast are Shinto Buddhists.

reaganaut,
only God can open a person’s eyes to Christ.
We can pray faithfully. He is gracious.
