Obamas Big Sellout
Rolling Stone ^ | Dec. 9 2009 | Matt Tiabbi

Posted on 12/11/2009 5:55:21 AM PST by marstegreg

Barack Obama ran for president as a man of the people, standing up to Wall Street as the global economy melted down in that fateful fall of 2008. He pushed a tax plan to soak the rich, ripped NAFTA for hurting the middle class and tore into John McCain for supporting a bankruptcy bill that sided with wealthy bankers "at the expense of hardworking Americans." Obama may not have run to the left of Samuel Gompers or Cesar Chavez, but it's not like you saw him on the campaign trail flanked by bankers from Citigroup and Goldman Sachs. What inspired supporters who pushed him to his historic win was the sense that a genuine outsider was finally breaking into an exclusive club, that walls were being torn down, that things were, for lack of a better or more specific term, changing.

Then he got elected.

This is a pretty long article, but it is very interesting, since it comes from the (disappointed) left!

The change they expected in not the change they got.

I’m guessing obama’s voters are among the perpetually unhappy and won’t be satisfied with anything.

What we do know is that Barack Obama pulled a bait-and-switch on us.

Would you trust this government with your mother's life? Then why let them control her healthcare?

It does seem that reality is bitter pill to swallow for these folks. It was comforting to see that alot of people defended the tea partiers. I had not read the comments section until you mentioned it, thanks for the heads up!

We all lose when stupid people vote for incompetents.

In their naive arrogance, the liberals think they're too progressive for their own candidate. With all their education, they failed to understand the politics of reality. It's damaging America's wealth, sovereignty and freedom.

As Michael Savage said, "You'll get us all killed!!!"

I can only take a bit of Schaedenfreude away from this stuff. They will STILL kiss his butt, and moan about how he inherited a problem, and it really is all Bush’s fault, BLAH BLAH BLAH.

The thing about liberal media outlets like RS or PMSNBC or the dinosaur ‘nets or the NY Slimes is that they NEVER REALLY ABANDON THEIR little tin gods like BO.

Sure, they gripe, but they’re like battered women who refuse to see the failure of their choice of men. “Maybe we need to do more to make them succeed” is their mantra. As if more laudable coverage of their politicians is needed.

Voters, OTOH, are not like that. Sadly, BO and his team of fraudsters are working to eliminate the opposition of the voters...dead, double, and non-existent voters will cast millions of ballots in 2010 if the White House has its way.

It looks like they are taking baby steps towards the truth...they cannot handle it all at once or their fragile perception of Obama will implode. Their hatred for the right blurs their view of reality. But it is getting harder and harder to ignore...

I will say it again. These people are blaming their hero Obama for carrying out what a socialist dictatorship does.

The flaw isn’t really their glorious leader, the flaw is their belief in the progressive movement. The movement depends on lies, deception, and a willing bunch of fools and suckers who will buy into the scam.

Until they see that no matter who they choose as hero from the movement of deception, they will always be disappointed.

They fooled ya again...he's another hard core lefty who is willing to rob the American public to advance his agenda.

It’s amazing that this author doesn’t realize how much he was and still is projecting into candidate Hussein’s mealy mouthed and mostly meaningless messages.

It just goes to show how hard this pill is for them to swallow...they are questioning (finally), but just can’t seem to let go of the talking point hypnosis they have been subject to.

From the article:

"NAFTA's shortcomings were evident when signed, and we must now amend the agreement to fix them," Obama declared. A few months after hiring Furman to help shape its economic policy, however, the White House quietly quashed any talk of renegotiating the trade deal. "The president has said we will look at all of our options, but I think they can be addressed without having to reopen the agreement," U.S. Trade Representative Ronald Kirk told reporters in a little-publicized conference call last April.

This is misleading, and maybe dishonest. Obama stopped the NAFTA program for Mexican trucks to travel in the USA. I expected him to bring the Mexican trucks back, but AFAIK the program is still dead. (This is one of the few things BO has done that I agree with.)
