Sen. Hutchison gets $4.85 million for border law enforcement

U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison has secured $4.85 million in funding to be used by border sheriffs to stop drug and human trafficking.

The money is coming from the fiscal year 2010 Omnibus Appropriations bill. It will help border sheriffs pay for overtime, hire additional deputies, and purchase equipment. This project supports Operation Linebacker, an initiative of the Texas Border Sheriff's Coalition.

"Our law enforcement personnel along the border are regularly under assault, and drug and human traffickers continue to threaten the safety of our communities," Hutchison said in a news release. "Sheriffs patrolling the border need additional reinforcements to protect the border adequately and to ensure violent crime doesn't continue to spill over into our state. That's why this funding to the Texas Border Sheriff's Coalition is so critical. Not only will it increase the number of deputies patrolling the border, but it will enable sheriffs and deputies to keep watch for longer and with better equipment."

Wonder where the Omnibus Appropriations bill is getting the money?

Kind of like saying “our family has budgeted 50 cents towards the purchase of a new car this year”.

So is she going to vote “yes” on Obamacare, like Landrieu, in return for the paltry sum?

That two faced fraud. This dingbat helped kill the Secure Fence Act.

Oh good for her. Of course, if she hadn’t defunded the approved fencing we wouldn’t even be having this conversation, now would we.

Fake conservatism pisses me off. The political ads already running on AM radio are likewise a pack of lies.

I sure am glad I get to listen to Perry and Hutchison “rediscovering” their conservative credentials now that it’s time to get elected again.

Bunch of no talent asshats. Can’t believe these 2 losers are the best we’ve got.

If Medina doesn’t get off her butt and start running ads soon she’s going to go the way of Kinky. There, but not really there.

Debra Medina will be happy to get out ads—but she has to have money to do that. Have you sent her a contribution?

Only to disappear into a slush fund.

No, because the likelihood is that she’s just as much a RINO as the other 2. I’m waiting a bit, seeing if she makes it through January, then I’ll consider throwing some money at her.

She’s the real deal, I’m convinced. She spoke for over an hour when I hosted a meeting of friends in my home to hear what she had to say. The meeting was a fund raiser for her. I made a video of her speech and it came out really well, but there’s no way I know of to get it up on the internet. It’s almost an hour long.

I’m always angry when I read about Senators and Congressman having to fight and win funds for things in their own state.

This leaves the impression with an ignorant American electorate that the money originated in Washington D.C.

The funds had to first be extorted by confiscatory taxation from the taxpayers in the states themselves. Remember, Americans?!

That money was taken from your paychecks to begin with, TEXANS! It didn’t grown on some tree on Pennsylvania Avenue in D.C. It was removed FROM your state and 50% wasted in federal bueaucracies, just as a matter of supporting bureacracies.

In reality, it is something more like, $1 Billion or more left Texas, nearly 50% of that paid for Washington bureaucracies, and only God knows what else(!) . . . BEFORE the $4.85 Million was appropriated to go BACK to Texas for the sheriffs.

LEAVE THE MONEY IN THE STATES !!!!

ABOLISH THE IRS!

No I didn’t—but I did like the fact that she wants to use the sheriff in each county that abuts the border to be in charge of getting the fence built in his county—possibly using prison labor.

Didn’t she already reduce the funds and cut it from a double fence to a single? Interesting to see her so supportive closer to home.

Since Mrs. Medina has never held any office, I don’t see how she could reduce the funds and cut it from a double fence to a single....do you have her confused with someone else?

I thought we were talking about Sen. Hutchison who was on the committee and did what Bush directed her to do.

LOL!—Now this is making more sense—we are talking about 2 different candidates. KBH does absolutely nothing for me. All the while, I’ve been talking about Debra Medina, the third Republican candidate.....
