TV interview of Brent Brown, head of Chesley-Brown of Atlanta, and a passenger on AirTran Flight 297.He is very well spoken and answers questions that have been brought up on the Flight 297 threads
"If there is a secur He addresses the email in beginning @ 3:00 and again later. As he points out at 8:15, there is no need to embellish an already incredible story.
@4:55 -- The passengers were walking around refusing to cooperate; not staying in their seats, against FAA rules, pilot turned plane around to secure the cabin. It was extremely tense, never experienced anything like it in over 20 yrs of flying for business. Past in law enforcement and security industry, this was tension at its highest.
To AirTran at ~ 8:30, when you have a security situation, have security officials deal with it. He was surprised not to have seen a single uniformed law officer. You have got to communicate to passengers.

AM -- Can this link be added to the body at the very top? Thanks - hope so, for easier reading.
Oh, but when I posted something on FR about this episode a week ago, I got flamed and told it did not occur.
Personally I think the odds are good that this was a setup for a lawsuit and getting to play the injured party Flying imams 2.0
About the same time, “the government” released a statement that the OP of the email could not have been on that flight because he missed a transfer.
This was still being spun, but that looked pretty bad.
And you’ve been here less than a year. Sometimes people won’t just take your word, because you are new.
As I remember, people were asking where were the others on the plane. So now the others are coming out. Good!
I agree. Even insane ragheads know by now an attempt to hijack an airliner will not meet with any success.
Thanks, Starwise. I didn’t see that at the time. Let’s hope that having this on its own thread gets the skeptics past the “Hoax” allegations and up to what we know at this point.
Brent Brown is a great spokesperson not only for this particular incident, but also for the entire scam being run on the airline industry by other such groups.
I’m also hoping he’ll make it a topic of one of their email updates: http://www.chesleybrown.com/ebriefs.html
Actually I have been a member since 2000, I have a new screen name for professional reasons. I was one of the Freepers chanting out in front of the Supreme Court when they were deciding the Bush-Gore election outcome. Wish I could find that original posting. It made it clear that this wasn’t a case of “miscommunication,” but rather deliberate provocation and/or another dry run. Some people won’t take anyone’s word for anything, even their own mother’s, because they are bloody-minded bastards and control freaks. They are legion here. It’s the way of the world.
That's exactly what I thought when I first heard it. And, after listening to this much more "sane" and reasoned retelling of the events, I believe it even more now.
It sounds like these were people trying to get some kind of reaction out of the flight crew. It worked.

>>Actually I have been a member since 2000<<
No one knows that. It’s not even on your homepage. The average FReeper looks at the join date. And actually if I had a nickle for everyone who says “I’ve been here for years”, I’d be rich. Some are lying, some are telling the truth. It’s a crap shoot.
The point is, people don’t know.

Flight Rehashed: topic of Monday meeting

WHAT REALLY HAPPENED on Flight 297? And what mistakes did AirTran Airways make on that flight? Security consultant Brent Brown of Mableton - who was a passenger on the flight in question - will be answering those questions as guest speaker at Monday's noon meeting of The Madison Forum at the Rib Ranch on Canton Road in east Cobb.
As most readers know, that Nov. 17 flight from Atlanta to Houston was disrupted before takeoff by a dozen or so Middle Eastern passengers who refused to cooperate with instructions from the flight attendants, which led its pilots to return to the gate at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Two of the 12 were escorted off the plane. But when the others were allowed to remain, most of the rest of the plane's passengers attempted to deplane.
After the other 10 Middle Easterners were removed from the plane, a new set of pilots was brought aboard for the flight - but refused to take off until the luggage of the 12 questionable passengers was removed and searched.
AirTran officials have attacked the veracity of those criticizing their actions that day and have attempted to paint the occurrence as a customer-service glitch. Though Brown, president and CEO of Chesley-Brown Companies Inc., now doubts the dozen passengers in question were terrorists, he contends AirTran badly mishandled the incident and says it was the most tense flight he's ever taken.
Cost of Monday's buffet-style lunch at the Rib Ranch is $10, according to Madison President Michael Opitz. The lunch will start at 11:30 a.m. with the meeting at noon.
