All the McDonald's in my area are filthy. The last one I bought food at (didn't eat it), it was about 3 pm on a Sunday afternoon. We were the only four people inside, and there wasn't one clean table. The fryer guy hadn't washed his shirt in at least four shifts. They had a "Free Cappuccino" poster up, but told me they hadn't "had time" to clean the machine, so it wasn't available. On the french fries, instead of making them fresh, they used the ones in the bin that were about an hour old. There weren't enough fries to make an order, so he started scraping behind the warming tray to get the ones that had fallen out.
A good McDonalds has great coffee, fries, and passable other food. Unfortunately, all the local McDonalds are owned by the same outfit, and ALL of them are filthy. They opened a new one last summer, and I walked into it about a week after it opened. It was already filthy. I don't know how you get two years of grease into a restaurant in a week, but they did it.

I”m surprised that the regional people haven’t came down on the franchisee to clean up the places.

You really should call their headquarters to complain. There’s no excuse for that.

McDonald's also does the best job of marketing to the kids. The hook ‘em early.

Unfortunately, all the local McDonalds are owned by the same outfit, and ALL of them are filthy. If you contact McDonalds corporate offices and ask to talk someone regarding filthy franchise stores, they'll come down on the owners like a ton of bricks. McDonalds is serious about its image, quality and its franchises, and if they learn that the stores are being mismanaged, they'll make good on threats to pull the franchise. I've seen it happen.
