Still killing jobs: O's step forward & three back
NY Post ^ | December 9, 2009 | JAMES SHERK

In his economic speech yesterday, President Obama made it clear that his administration will take a step forward on job creation. Unfortunately, it's also taking three steps backward -- which all adds up to more unemployment.

The good news is that Obama understands why unemployment has risen so sharply.

Media coverage strongly implies that joblessness has risen because layoffs are up -- but that's only part of the equation.

The number of jobs lost by firms rose 15 percent from the start of the recession to the first quarter of this year. These layoffs are real and painful for the workers involved. But they're not the driving force behind the doubling of unemployment.

Obama is the most anti-business president this country has ever had. I am convinced that Obama is intentionally trying to undercut our market economy hoping that the pain will be so great that a majority of voters will demand a centrally planned economy. Obama is purposely directing our country toward fascism with the only difference being globism rather than nationalism.

Nobody will demand central planning - they’ll merely fester with resentment while Hussein shoves it down our throats regardless.

Listen to some of the callers to C-Span, particularly when they have open call-ins. There is a significant number of callers advocating global fascism at the present time.

The fact that only 8% of Obama’s cabinet have private sector experience, by far the lowest of any president in the last 100 years, should give people pause as to the capabilities of this administration's understanding of the private sector. I've stated repeatedly that both socialized medicine and cap and tax are providing so much uncertainty in the business community that they will hold back on hiring until the dust settles. When it does these two policies will prove to be immense job killers. Look at it for the perspective of an employer. Who in their right mind would commit to an expansion under the current circumstances when it could conceivably cost your company its existence!? Obama has proved himself to be incapable, or maybe more importantly unwilling to grasp this concept. Until he does the sky will be the limit for the level of unemployed Americans.

Cloward-Piven any one? With each passing day I'm becoming increasingly convinced that this the economic destruction of the U.S. economy is being done intentionally. It's no small consolation that most of us FReepers had this guy pegged from the start. The question is are we strong enough to take what he's dishing out until November 2010?

You imply that it is Obama’s ignorance which is the root cause of the problem, but my point is that Obama is deliberately crippling our market economy in order to make socialism mue appealing.

I agree with you on this. That's what Cloward-Piven addresses: a basic overwhelming of the economic system by way of entitlements. Google it. This was tried by “community organizers” in the 1960’s in NYC with welfare to great success. I don't think Obama is stupid but I do believe that he is the greatest danger this country has seen in my lifetime.
