This case was not an isolated incident where Huckabee mistakenly tried to undo other racial injustices but just went overboard. It is a small part of a policy of freeing violent criminals. Huckabee freed far more violent criminals than any other governor.
Putting a convicted, violent criminal back into society where he can harm and kill innocent people is a huge risk and a huge responsibility. It should only be undertaken after it has been determined that the person will no longer be a threat to innocent people. Huckabee did none of this. He handed out pardons like he was handing out candy.
And now he tries to slime his way out of taking responsibility for his actions.
I recognize that detective, and I don’t disagree. He went way overboard...but again, he’s coming from the historical “growing up in the South” perspective that death sentences and unjust punishments had been handed out like candy up to minorities up to that point.
ALL i’m saying is: it’s absolutely hypocritical if people get all upset over this—but don’t GET upset when the opposite happens—when innocent non-white people ARE wrongly sentenced or wrongly put to death?
