China demands more from rich to unlock climate talks

COPENHAGEN (Reuters) - China led calls by developing nations for deeper emissions cuts from the United States, Japan and Europe at U.N. climate talks on Tuesday, as a study showed that this decade will be the warmest on record.

The first decade of this century was the hottest since records began, the World Meteorological Organisation said, underscoring the threat scientists say the planet faces from rising temperatures.

Negotiators from nearly 200 countries are trying to seal the outlines of a climate pact to combat rising seas, desertification, floods and cyclones that could devastate economies and ruin the livelihoods of millions of people.

Yvo de Boer, head of the U.N. Climate Change Secretariat, said the Dec 7-18 talks in Copenhagen were "off to a good start." The EU said it was positive that no one had walked out of negotiation sessions.

China, the world's biggest emitter of greenhouse gases, criticised goals set by the United States, the European Union and Japan for cuts in greenhouse gas emissions by 2020.

What utter hypocrisy by the Chicoms. Communists and fascists like them do way more harm to the environment than capitalists.

“...China led calls by developing nations for deeper emissions cuts from the United States, Japan and Europe “

They are in no way interested in the climate issue. By slowing down the productive nations with these regulations and resolutions, they can leapfrog ahead.

- much easier than sabotage or spying - and cheaper.

True but insignificant, since this whole circle jerk has nothing to do with the environment at all. The Chinese know it and they're not playing. We shouldn't be either.

Why shouldn’t they make demands. Our politicians are dumb enough and crooked enough to go along with it.

“The first decade of this century was the hottest since records began, the World Meteorological Organisation said”

So far, I haven’t seen this statement challenged. I read here on FR that the last decade showed a definite cooling trend that was just chalked up to variability by the warmists.

What’s true? Was the last decade cooler or hotter?

EAU and UN IPCC climatologists "can't explain the cooling trends over the past decade. That's a travesty," say they. I'd call that a clear consequence that their climate models can't even NOWcast or track with the last decade of historical trends, let alone FOREcast weather years into the future!

Check this article:

It is a long read, but well worth the time.

I have no idea whether this guy has got it right or not, but if he does, I no wonder there is so much world-wide pressure to get a new “climate change” treaty in place. There are literally Trillions of dollars to be made selling, what is in essence, hot air, at $20.00 per tonne! Geez, Billions have already been made!

This thing needs to die a quick death, and the perps need to be imprisoned for the rest of their lives!

IMHO

Warmest decade my a$$.

I live in Maine and the last two winters were amongst the hardest winters since Maine became a state in 1820.

In northernmost Maine, they recorded 200 inches of snow from December 2007 - April 2008. This broke a record set in the 1950’s, making it the snowiest winter since they started keeping records.

Global warming would be welcome here....where is it?
