“... and wouldn’t it be cool if the first woman president was a conservative!”

Only if you’re a patron of identity politics.

she is very smart and knows how to set her negotiating tactic, but she is also not crazy enough to want to re-elect Obama on a 42% plurality. (that job will be left to guys like Lou Dobbs...)

Only so we could watch the ABC technicians trying to scrape all the little bits o’ brain matter off of their lenses over at The View...

About the effect a conservative third party candidate will have on the outcome of the next election? Of course.

However, I'm not sure you understand that working within the GOP might be exactly what Palin is attempting to do. That one needs to have leverage to effectively negotiate with the geldings who currently run the GOP.

If you have nothing to take away then you have no leverage. Basic stuff.

First, you have unmitigated gall to TELL me whom to vote for.

I did not do as you claimed. Go back and read what I said.

Second, you throw in a back handed insult to those who don’t follow the “party” line and may find another candidate to support who is similar to Palin on the issues.

If one will only support GOP candidates even if their preferred candidate goes third party then they are, IN FACT GOP Firsters. If that insults you that is your problem.

Third, you don’t even recognize the hypocrisy of condemning the “GOP elitists” who jam a candidate down your throat then proceed to do EXACTLY the same thing with your “preferred” candidate.

I did not do as you claimed. Go back and read what I said.

Don’t tell me who to support, don’t tell me who to vote for.

I did not do as you claimed. Go back and read what I said.

Allahpundit is a self admitted atheist and VERY VERY anti-Palin. Anything he says about Sarah should be discounted to zero - no credibility.

“Anyone who refuses to vote for her if she does go third party has proven themselves to be GOP Firsters.”

So if Jim DeMint runs and Palin goes 3rd party, I’m a GOP Firster if I support DeMint?

The Palinistas have no idea how much damge they do.

Republican Party "leaders" don't present candidates.

They do however decide who gets Party money, don't they?

If your first choice and preferred candidate is Palin but you rather vote for a GOP candidate than a Third Party Palin candidate, then yes.

IMO, you know you will vote GOP first but don’t like anyone else knowing about it.

I’d be ashamed of it, too.

If the intent is simply to hold the threat of a third party, but not actually go through with it, I see your point. But keep in mind undertaking the formation of a third party is a hugely expensive, enormously time consuming, and complex task. Each of the fifty states has their own set of laws, rules, and regulations just to qualify for the ballot. And as our history has shown, third parties rarely last long or get very far in our winner take all system.

Here is an example of something conservatives could do to retake the party: In Florida there is a spirited primary contest between RINO Republican Charlie Crist and conservative Marco Rubio for the US Senate. If you happen to live in that state, get active in the race and make a difference. BE THE PARTY! as Saul Alinsky would say.

“They do however decide who gets Party money, don’t they?”

Ya, GOP candidates. Show me where the GOP has ever given money to one single GOP candidate in a presidential primary election.

Wouldn’t it be nice - and far more effective - if the PARTY and all its resources actually got behind Rubio, too?

Anyone who refuses to vote for her if she does go third party has proven themselves to be GOP Firsters.

Exactly, and these dopes thing Sarah has a chance at being the nominee in the very party that is now working furiously in back rooms to destroy her, and make sure the liberal states early in the primary process ensure her defeat, but devil be damned they're sticking with the GOP and and the GOP laughs there A#R@# off and the stupidity of some people, it's astounding that these same people get back in line for another round, we deserve to lose, truly we do. Thank goodness our founding fathers weren't like this men who always decide to play it safe, don't make waves, stay within the system. Yes, a vote for the GOP is a vote for Socialism, plain and simple, but do get in line again ...

Ah-ha...the old liberal "do it our way or you're a ____________(fill in the blank with your favorite guilt word) trick.

Nope. Not at all.

I swear to God some freepers are as functionally illiterate ad DU posters!

If one's favorite candidate is Palin but one prefers to vote GOP candidate over a Palin Third Party candidate, then yes that one is GOP Firster.

Not my fault if you feel insulted.

You're a sucker for the GOP's "all your votes are belong to us" marketing ploy.

Perot did not "steal" any votes. Period. The GOP ran a crappy campaign...again while assuming voters would vote GOP regardless of who they ran.

Perot attracted some votes from those who did not like the GOP candidate. And your problem with that is what?

Perot also attracted votes from people that would not have otherwise voted. And your problem with that is exactly what?

I can tell you your problem, however. It is that you believe in the GOP, First, Last, and Always.

If Palin runs on a GOP ticket I'll vote for her DESPITE the GOP lable.

Every election is crucial and the US is on the precipice every 4 years and the GOP reminds us that they think they are the only ones to save the GOP from the other evils...by running Dole, Bush, McCain???

Damn..the GOP is part of the problem, not part of the solution!

Well, yeah it would be. But life isn’t always so easy and in some cases if not most, if you really want something you have to out and work hard for it. Gov. Crist is the incumbent governor and as such will have more money and more resources at his disposal. But that doesn’t mean he can’t defeated. Sarah Palin knocked off a sitting GOP governor in the primary. It can be done. But if Florida conservatives are out running around trying to form a third party, it won’t happen, rest assured.

If you would have preferred Palin until she ran Third Party it would seem so.

You’re a smart guy. You’ve been around.

Maybe you just don’t like facing the fact that you’re a dyed in the wool GOP supporter?

And the GOP brought us Obama by nomimating McCain.

Yes, McCain. The one who subverted the GOP majority with his Gang of 14. Yep. The dummest thing any political part ever did was to nominate the man who ruined them.

If running as GOP becomes a litmus test for voters then that test is more revealing about the voter, not the candidate.
