She is safer at a book store then in an actual mall. She shouldn’t do book signings at malls anymore because even with adequate security at the mall, you can’t watch everyone. At a bookstore itself, its easier to watch everyone and also I suggest that people go through medal detectors before they are allowed in

There was a firsthand eyewitness account of the Mall of America book signing event posted I think it was last night, and the poster said that they went through detectors AND had their bags searched AND evidentally any liquids, like soda pop, were confiscated.

However, it looks like nobody looked UP to whereever it was that the tomato was thrown from.

I also heard that a crowd of shoppers apprehended Tomato-Boy and kept him "safe & sound" until security had the opportunity to arrive.

Does NOT sound safe - although the line of people apparently was thoroughly & carefully checked & wanded.
