........The new numbers seem to indicate that despite oft-cited predictions about the dire impact of Palin resigning her Alaska governor's job last July, a lot of people who don't live in Alaska (and, come to think of it, most people don't live in Alaska) don't seem to care. She wasn't their governor then and she still isn't.

Palin's low favorable poll point of 39% came right after the mid-summer resignation and she's been slowly climbing since, fueled by media attention fueled by eager reader response over her book contents, her tour and the spontaneous outpouring of support at her carefully-calculated bus stops along the way -- 31 appearances in 25 states, many of them politically crucial.

Imagine what critics would be saying now if Palin was neglecting her elected Juneau job to sell books in the lower 48 and talk to an elite club of Washington journalists, if there is such a thing.

Palin critics -- and, by golly, there still are some, believe it or not -- say that she's a polarizing political figure.

And they're dead-on correct: 46% like her (including 8 of 10 Republicans), 46% don't (including 7 of 10 Democrats) and only 8% are undecided (no doubt including many who've been living underground since John McCain unveiled his VP GOP running mate in Dayton some15 months ago).

But here's the fascinating, little-noticed catch:

The very same polarization now holds true for Obama, the fresh fellow from the old Chicago Democratic machine who was supposed to bring hope and change to a nation tired of divisive politics and the harsh partisan tone of Washington.

Fully 83% of Democrats approve of him, but only 14% of Republicans do.

Among independents, who provided the crucial winning boost for the Democrat ticket in November 2008, Obama's support has melted to 42% today, in large part over immense spending and deficit concerns.

Frankly, since this is a MSM, we can safely swing it at least 5% towards the right.

I’m sure the DU trolls will be here soon.

Just ask them to post it over there when they take a break from their ongoing campaign against Sarah Palin.

I like these numbers, but trust me when I say that people were saying the same thing about President Clinton at the time and he won reelection. We should be worrying about the election TODAY in a primary in Mass. We need the best Republican to win so that when the election comes up in January we can take one of their seats. Why do we always look three years out but ignore elections that are today and in the near future???

DU Troll Tweak:

Hey, you know Sarah Palin’s probably smarter than Obama,
she just doesn’t have the narcissistic compulsion to make everyone think she’s the smartest person in the room because she’s not suffering from deep-seated feelings of inferiority and abandonment.

You need to find people to put in the “feeder positions” in local and state government. The left has a deep back bench because they have people running in every township in America to destroy property rights.

Now you know why the left is so freaked out about Sarah Palin.

While Palin ideologically is the greatest candidate in years, the jury is still out on whether she can develop the policy skills in managing staff and consistently handling the little stuff to see if she can become the top candidate. But she has three years to do so.

What is surprising is that Americans are starting to get so fed up with Zero that some of them who didn't like her are beginning to take a second look, and that's good for her, too.

As much as I like her, I still feel that she’s a polarizing political figure. She is dividing our Country, between the Old American way folks and the un-American way folks. But I can live with that. ;^)

That was then and this was now. The US (at all levels, governmental or personal) hadn’t quite spent itself into the level of debt there is now. Also, Clinton did an about face and embraced the rhetoric of less government and welfare reform. It was only after his reelection that his true colors surfaced.

The trillion dollar bully-pulpit of the Office of the President and all he’s got, over a “dumb”, “moose-hunting”, “redneck hick” from the sticks, is a measly 1-point lead!!!

HAHAHAHAHA!

For the time being we will not hear any longer that Sarah Palin is unelectable, divisive or too polarizing.

And what is missing from this analysis is that in the CNN poll Palin is running roughly 50/50 among independents (51% men support her and almost that many women don’t).

In sports this is a competitive situation and reflect back to January 20, 2009 on the day of Obama’s inauguration, didn’t the Messiah look infallible and didn’t Palin’s prospects at best look uneven. You would be a liar if you didn’t think so at the time.

That Palin and the GOP now has HOPE in the 2010 midterms and perhaps in ousting Obama in 2012 is significant. Again it doesn’t mean that Obama will lose in 2012 but as the polls now stand he is no longer a sure bet to be re-elected. And 3 years to the next presidential election, that is not a bad place for any future campaign to start off from.

Palin accomplished more in her 30-month governorship than Obama in his entire life, including the “Year of the Big-Spending Ditherer.”
