Copenhagen: Earth's Latest 'Last Chance'

With 20,000 delegates, advocates and journalists jetting to Copenhagen for planet Earth's last chance, the carbon footprint of the global warming summit will be the only impressive consequence of the climate change meeting.
Its organizers had hoped it would produce binding caps on emissions, global taxation to redistribute trillions of dollars and micromanagement of everyone's choices.
China, nimble at the politics of pretending that is characteristic of climate change theater, promises only to reduce its "carbon intensity" carbon emissions per unit of production. So China's emissions will rise.
Barack Obama, understanding the histrionics required in climate change debates, promises that U.S. emissions in 2050 will be 83% below 2005 levels. If so, 2050 emissions will equal those in 1910, when there were 92 million Americans. But there will be 420 million in 2050, so Obama's promise means that per capita emissions then will be about what they were in 1875. That. Will. Not. Happen.
Disclosure of e-mails and documents from the Climate Research Unit in Britain a collaborator with the U.N.'s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change reveals some scientists' willingness to suppress or massage data and rig the peer review process and the publication of scholarly work.

That too. The problem you have Tiger is that you cannot seem to correlate cause and effect. Without post 1965 immigration we couldn't have this communist takeover of our country as you have stated. Who do you think elected those who are ruining the country? It's that simple.

I disagree.
It is not earth’s last chance to get rid of these fatuous watermelons assembled in Copenhagen.
I’m thinking the planet is going to kick their *ss over and over for the next few years.

The eco-idiots in copenhagen need (to paraphrase comedian George Wallace) “to have their asses kicked”. What a bunch of loony-moonbats. Whatever they have the idiocy to pass/promote: RESIST. RESIST. RESIST.

No I'm apparently a lot brighter than you. I've studied these demographics issues extensively for 20 years.
Without the changes in the US immigration policy, the population of the United States would have leveled off at about 260 million. We would be at or near ZPG today instead of 310 million and off to the races!
Remember (if you can) that we passed 200 million in 1967. Now remember this is post WW2 baby boom. So we have added 50% to our population in just 40 years. Madness! Most of this has come from immigration and the offspring of immigrants. That is most of the increase in population from beyond what we were projected to be pre 1965. You really need to get educated on this Tiger.

Amen, brother. I’m sick of having to pretend that “legal immigration is okay.”

Both of you are morons.
None of us, you nor I, would BE here if not for legal immigration.
Are you just DU trolls trying to make FR look bad?

Yes, it's way past time to realize that legal immigration has been nearly as destructive as illegal immigration. Some will take offense to this as they probably know immigrants who are fine people and have made contributions. This is true and I also know many of these immigrants myself. But what we are concerned here is numbers and culture. Before 1965 we had immigration as well but it was reasonable, about 200,000 per year. These immigrants came from countries that had similar cultures to the United States. Most of them had to have sponsors and had to prove they were not a burden to the US taxpayers. The Democrats blew this out of the water in 1965. Thanks Ted Kennedy.
In my studies I was surprised to learn that every year about 150,000-200,000 people leave the US. I would allow that many people to immigrate. There would be no more family reunification beyond the immediate spouse. We would go back to a policy that worked well before 1965. We never should have changed it.

WTH?
Legal immigration has NEVER been a problem. Legal immigrants pay taxes, so they earn their right to be here just as you do.
Go away, troll.

No Chris I think it's you who can claim to be the moron.
Do you know that nearly 1/3 of those in the Federal Prison system are illegals. Do you know that over half the gang members in the United States are either illegals or the offspring of illegals. Do you care? Do you want orderly immigration or the chaos we have now. Well what's it going to be. Do you want the United states to have half a billion people by 2050? Do you even think about such things?
Yes it's true that my ancestors were immigrants. But there are important differences. When my ancestors came to the United States there was NO SUCH THING as the Welfare State. People had to make it on their own. My ancestors came legally. And most important when my ancestors came to America, the population of the United States was smaller than what the population of state of California is today. And you can also add Texas, New York and Florida to that as well. And three quarters of my ancestors could already speak English when they arrived. And the one quarter who couldn't speak English quickly learned and NEVER spoke German again.
No Chris, learn a little before making dumb comments.

So how many people do you think we should take in per year? 5 million, 10 million, perhaps 20 million. Because if you think legal immigration is good then you need to determine how many you are going to take and from where they should come. You need to understand we are now a welfare state and are likely to be more of a welfare state in the future. The voting patterns of the post 1965 immigrants have assured us of that. You see I’ve studied this extensively. I’ve watched the voting patterns of these new citizens. They vote for Democrats and the Welfare State. This is beyond dispute. Why do you think California is now a permanent Democrat State. No Chris you need to think, read and learn a bit before making comments.

There is a real anger moving through America. It was evident in the Tea Party events and other developments in 2009. I would be willing to bet 80 percent of Democrats running for reelection will be turned out in '10; maybe more.
The Obama Administration has punched its own ticket by bringing the terror trial to NYC, with a plan to indict Bush and Cheney. This media showcase looks as if it will begin sometime around the 2012 primaries. If one of these bastards walks, prepare for a sea-change in DC.
