IN 1790 GEORGE WASHINGTON WROTE TO THIS CONGREGATION THAT…"HAPPILY THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES…GIVES TO BIGOTRY NO SANCTION…TO PERSECUTION NO ASSISTANCE."
