Sandra Lee and Andrew Cuomo: A Love Story
NY Post ^ | 12/03/2009 | Annie Karn

Posted on 12/04/2009 7:57:25 PM PST by iowamark

..New York's attorney general and his celebrity girlfriend, Food Network shortcut-cooking queen Sandra Lee, are out for a private pleasure cruise. Upstate and out of the limelight, it's just "Sandy" and "Andy," as they call each other, alone on the open road...

Lee often cooks Italian food for Cuomo, whose favorite meal is her simple lasagna, which she prepares with canned tomato soup, cottage cheese and ground chuck...

But as talk of a gubernatorial run for 51-year-old Cuomo begins to intensify—he enjoys a 67 percent job approval rating, and the most recent polls show him trouncing David Paterson by a 59-point margin—politicos are already speculating about whether dating a professedly down-market TV personality like Lee is an asset or a recipe for disaster...

Lee is part of the Food Network elite. On one popular episode of her hit show, Semi-Homemade Cooking, Lee walks on the beach in a low-cut red dress and a push-up bikini top, her blond locks tied back in two pigtails... Lee purrs as she leans over the grill, and you start to wonder if this G-rated cooking demo is about to get X-rated...

Cuomo used the Cuomolot marriage as a campaign strategy..

But Cuomo's bright political future and personal life suddenly crashed and burned. In September 2002, he dropped out of the Democratic primary for governor after an off-putting campaign. "The more voters saw of him, the less they liked him," explains one political operative. "He was overly aggressive; he was the foremost expert on everything; he was way too cocky—it was just way too much Andrew, and he was everywhere."

Then, in 2003, his fairy-tale marriage to Kennedy ended when Cuomo caught her cheating on him with handsome polo player Bruce Colley, who was a close family friend. The demise of Cuomolot was tabloid gold...

"I will cook," Lee answered, looking distractedly at the table in front of her. "And do you know what I'm going to bring when I go to the governor's mansion? Great garnishes!"

That’s what I thought...tomato soup coupled with cottage cheese!?!?!?! YUCH!!! And she has a cooking show (along with implants I am guessing from the “bolt on” look in the photo?)

I was going to make a comment about her lasagna being as authentic as her chest, but I wouldn’t want to be crass... :)

"her simple lasagna, which she prepares with canned tomato soup"

If I'm going to take cooking tips from someone, I prefer that they graduate from culinary school and have worked as a professional chef.

Low cut top spilling out huge hooters just isn't going to satisfy my palette. If that makes me a snob, then I'm a snob.

I am no fan of Andrew Cuomo, and do not want to see him in any high office.

There is much more to Sandra Lee than meets the eye. She has a terrific, inspiring personal story. She lost her parents when she was a teenager, and basically brought up her younger siblings on her own. She learned to cook from her grandmother, to feed the younger brothers and sisters.

I’ve watched her show a few times. The decor looks better than the food.

Fascinating.

This is far and away the longest piece I’ve ever seen on Page Six, which usually sticks to short celebrity scandals.

Very bizarre. The whole thing reads like a news release, written by Cuomo’s political advisers and put out for public consumption before the campaign.

Does this mean that the NY Post has decided that a crooked Democrat (Andrew Cuomo) is better than an incompetent Democrat who came into office by accident (David Patterson). Usually the Post supports the Republican candidate. Maybe they think no Republican has a chance to win.

Also, my first reaction was that they put all this out there at once to get it over with, so they could say it was old news. The two are living together but aren’t interested in getting married. But no, they seem to think that this will appeal to the NY Voters. It’s not an Eliot Spitzer scandal, it’s a LOVE AFFAIR!

>>”Cuomo doesn’t want to talk about his divorce in a campaign—who would?” says political operative Roger Stone. “This is a love story New Yorkers will like and focus on instead of digging up the past.”<<

So, evidently this whole thing is not a scandal story but a campaign release. I wonder how it will be received?

Roger Stone and his wife were running ads looking for other swinging couples back about 1994, weren’t they? Unless it’s a different Republican operative by the same name, and whose photographs look exactly the same.

People seem to bounce back from ANYTHING nowadays.

Yes, Lee has had a rough life. Mother divorced twice, became seriously mentally ill, her father went to prison for sexual assault. Lee’s first husband is facing fraud charges. Cuomo was betrayed by his first wife Kerry Kennedy.

But, have they learned anything from their rough lives? Why are they selling abortion, homosexuality, and every other kind of death and amorality?

Kerry Adulteress Kennedy Cuomo published a book of interviews of liberal/gay/dissenting “Catholics,” didn’t she? Not long after her sister, Kathleen Partial-Birth Abortion Kennedy Townsend published a book bashing the Catholic Church for failing to support abortion, gay marriage, etc.

canned tomato soup, cottage cheese and ground chuck.

I can't canned tomato soup by itself, let alone with - yuck, I can't even type it.

and her bad taste carries over into her clothes

What is this creation - the materials don't go together, indeed they look like upholstery material - (and I won't even remark on the design,)

Maybe she spent so much on what she showing off, she had to tear up some sofa pillows for clothes

Yeah. I actually read the entire, long story at the link. She had a VERY rough childhood. And she seems to have made it on her own. But then you wonder why on earth they can’t just get married and try to make a life of it?

The whole article was an effort to take a very strange situation and try to make it sympathetic. And I notice that they say NOTHING about Cuomo’s extremely corrupt years at HUD.
