An alleged series of attempted security breaches at the University of Victoria in the run-up to next week's Copenhagen summit on climate change is evidence of a larger effort to discredit climate science, says... Andrew Weaver, a University of Victoria scientist and key contributor to the Nobel prize-winning work of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change

I tend to agree with your observation....looks like they’re trying to gain sympathy for their cause.

According to urbandictionary.com, one of the definitions of TWAP is The Worst American President. I like it!

No Andy, no one is out to discredit you envirowackos..YOU do that job for yourselves.
However, the “little” people are sick and tired of being pushed around. ergo...your computer is public property...turn about is fair play.

Yeah, like a scummy school superintendent I once had dealings with. His car was stolen and burned, which just happened to have some certain school financial records sitting on the back seat at the time. And this happened not once, but twice. He was also the county Democratic Party chairman - hm, imagine that.

Logic would dictate that the hacker/whistleblower has A LOT more information than the initial 62MB release of files. He/she reportedly released ONLY the data the CRU has not released per legitimate FOIA requests in the initial release.

Just like the bomber who might wait for Rescue Forces to arrive on scene to detonate a second bomb, it's VERY likely this hacker/whistleblower is waiting to release a second volley of files — especially now that he's seeing how the ClimateGate scientists are trying to “explain” and cover-up their falsified data.

You think maybe “Jimmah” Carter is behind this?

You know what I love about these articles? Every time the lady doth protest too much it turns out her name pops up in the CRU emails.

There are going to be a zillion hackers after these guys now, trying to make the next big kill. No evidence they are related.

Pure hypocrisy to insinuate a wider conspiracy when these guys were engaged in some pretty wide ranging conspiracy themselves.

Andrew Weaver, a University of Victoria scientist and key contributor to the Nobel prize-winning work of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, says there have been a number of attempted breaches in recent months, including two successful break-ins at his campus office...

Why believe a word this collaborator is saying?

This should put some heat on the American nets. It's CBC's Rex Murphy in a pretty scathing assessment.

Good point! That’s another great example of guerilla style tactics employed on our side. Excellent!

But how can global warming experts prove that it exists if they have to actually prove that it exists? Now you tell me how can they possibly do this. Where will their grant renewals come from? The rabid right? I think not.
