Of course Huckabee is going to get all of the blame because he has the highest profile, and is a Christian, and his mistake probably bothers more than a lot of folks suspect.

Being a Christian has nothing to do with it. As governor, the buck stopped at his desk. Dukakis took a drubbing over Horton, and all Horton did was rape two women after his release before being arrested. Huck is a repeat offender. He paroled Wayne Dumond, who killed two women after his release. Identity politics allowed Huck to remain a serious candidate despite the Dumond blunder:

The video's impact is not certain; Huckabee was already a long-shot candidate before the video was released, and continued to be very popular among social conservatives and southern Republicans generally, despite the fact that the South has most of the states with conservative criminal justice systems.
Fortunately, unlike the Democrats, who made Dukakis their nominee, the GOP rejected Huck, who seems to have made a career of releasing people who murder after getting out of the joint.

Good people tend to see good in everyone. Huckabee probably should have just stayed a minister. The fact that he let too many prisoners out was probably based on trying to bring out the “good” in people .What he didn’t realise is that some folks just don’t have any good in them. The few people that think that he let those people go for some kind of personal gain are full of crap. There was nothing in it for him. Out of the 1000 or so that were let go I’ll be willing to bet that less than 50 ever voted after that. And there’s a good chance they voted democrat if they did.
Iam sure that due to Clemmon’s age, Huckabee was touched to see a life that young wasted. He made a mistake.
I do not support Huck for President. Personally I don’t think he has the leadership skills.
I wonder, though, if folks ought to be helping him over this instead of joining the MSM in attacking him. I don’t know......
