Obamacare: How the Unions are "Getting Well"

It’s already being called the “Second Louisiana Purchase,” but the sad truth is that a controversial payoff to U.S. Sen. Mary Landrieu’s home state of Louisiana is among the smallest of the thinly-disguised bribes and kickbacks that are being offered in Washington D.C. to secure passage of President Barack Obama’s socialized medicine proposal.

The Legislative Trigger and the Public Health Care Option

The Woodward Report ^ | Stuart M. Butler

Posted on Thursday, December 03, 2009 7:10:00 AM by thisisthetime

With Democrats joining Republicans in the Senate in saying that a public plan should not be a part of the final health care reform bill, attention has moved to the idea of keeping a public plan in reserve as a last resort if other reforms fail to work as advertised. The idea is that a "trigger" would implement a government-run public option in any state not achieving certain outcomes in a specific period.

But while the trigger idea may seem like a reasonable compromise, it is unworkable and would actually slow down or undermine creative solutions to coverage gaps at the state level.

What Is a Trigger?

A trigger is a legislative tool that would put in place automatic benchmarks that, if not met, would unleash the government-run system into the market. For example, if 95 percent of Americans as defined by the bill do not have adequate health coverage by a certain date, the public option would go into effect.

Senate Breaks Health Stalemate; First Votes Today (Democrat Deathcare™ advances)

WASHINGTON — At the end of a third day of Senate debate over sweeping health care legislation, Democrats and Republicans said Wednesday night that they had broken an impasse over the seemingly simple question of how and when to vote on the first amendments.

But even as lawmakers announced an agreement to begin voting Thursday, Democrats accused Republicans of stalling debate and obstructing the legislation.

Healthcare “exchanges” only guarantee an to end private health insurance so Obama loves them

Smoking guns prove the point.

Barack Obama was caught on tape in 2003 and in 2007 expressing his intentions to kill private healthcare insurance companies and pledging his support for a “single payer” system of healthcare delivery.

There is nothing ambiguous about this Marxist anti capitalist president’s intentions. He has tried fooling us with words but his words are failing him now so he’s ready to ram Obamacare down our throats however he has to. He’ll order Reid and Pelosi to use any underhanded maneuver to get his way.

At least one Democrat gets it on health bill costs (Admits $1T - $2.5T)

Atlanta Journal Constitution ^ | 12/2/2009 | Kyle Wingfield

From the Senate Republicans’ Web site:

SEN. MAX BAUCUS (D-MT): “Just for a second — health care reform, whether you use a ten-year number or when you start in 2010 or start in 2014, wherever you start at, so it is still either $1 trillion or it’s $2.5 Trillion, depending on where you start…” (Sen. Baucus, Floor Remarks, 12/2/09)

This is, of course, what opponents of the various Democratic bills have been pointing out all along: Starting the new taxes a few years before the benefits begin is the only way these bills get a cost estimate of “just” $1 trillion.

Health care pay probe hits top Interior official

When members of Congress decided in November to start investigating the recipients of seven-figure pay packages in the health insurance industry, they may not have expected to find themselves probing a top Obama administration official.

Just months earlier, Interior Department Chief of Staff and Assistant Secretary Thomas L. Strickland had breezed through his Senate confirmation hearing without a mention of his $2 million bonus from one of the country's biggest health care plans.

WASHINGTON -- Senators voted to safeguard coverage of mammograms and preventive screening tests for women under any health care overhaul legislation.

The 61-39 vote Thursday on an amendment by Democratic Sen. Barbara Mikulski of Maryland and Republican Sen. Olympia Snowe of Maine would allow the Health and Human Services secretary to require insurers to cover preventive health screenings free of charge.

On the fourth day of a sometimes bitter debate, the Senate voted 61-39 for an amendment to improve access to women's screenings for diseases like cancer and diabetes by eliminating insurance co-pays and deductibles for them.

Here is a newly released Naked Emperor News video showing Dr. Quentin Young - a longtime mentor and friend to Barack Obama, and a vocal advocate of Socialized Medicine - saying President Obama is being "dishonest" when he says it is not necessary to bring a "Single-Payer" Health Care System (Socialized Medicine) to America.

The video shows Young being interviewed in March of 2009. He was shown clips of Obama advocating a single-payer system before he was elected to the U.S. Senate, and then shows Obama after he became President saying otherwise.

After seeing the clips, Young bluntly said:

"This is one of the few times Barack has been dishonest."

Medicare Part D 'Reforms' Will Harm Seniors

Wall Street Journal ^ | 12/3/09 | TOM SCULLY

An ObamaCare change will cost taxpayers a bundle and lead to poorer drug coverage.

There is a little-noticed provision buried deep in both the House and Senate health-care reform bills that is intended to save billions of dollars—but instead will hurt millions of seniors, impose new costs on taxpayers, and charge employers millions in new taxes.

McCain was noticeably angry that AARP opposed his amendment. He spoke directly to seniors from the Senate floor, "Take your AARP card, cut it in half and send it back. They've betrayed you."

Obstetrician-turned-Senator Tom Coburn of Oklahoma was even more blunt regarding the seniors , "I have a message for you: You're going to die sooner."

I believe that one vote would be all we need to defeat Harrycare.

So where’s Bob Casey who SAYS he is prolife, or did he just say he was prolife to win the election.
