An ObamaCare change will cost taxpayers a bundle and lead to poorer drug coverage.
There is a little-noticed provision buried deep in both the House and Senate health-care reform bills that is intended to save billions of dollarsbut instead will hurt millions of seniors, impose new costs on taxpayers, and charge employers millions in new taxes.
As part of the Medicare Modernization Act in 2003, Congress created a new drug benefitcalled Medicare Part Dfor retirees at a cost of about $1,900 per recipient per year. Many private employers already provided drug coverage for their retirees, and the administration and Congress did not want to tempt employers into dropping their coverage. These liars can say all they want about this bill being deficit neutral, being paid for by cleaning up fraud in Medicare and Medicade, and by taxing the rich. The real truth is that the middle class, what’s left of it, will probably pay for the lion’s share of it as they do for all the hare brained programs both parties dream up. The rich will find loop holes and the people that pat no taxes will be subsidized.

Medicare will be insolvent in 2017.
Socialism always destroys itself.
They are already hurting seniors- and wil lcontinue to get worse- over hte last year or so- I’ve noticed many changes which show that Medicare isn’t covering basic medicines that they used to, medicines known to help are either no logner covered, or the supplimental insurances will only cover generics- it’s goign to get much much worse
Medicare Part D and Medicare Advantage have been very good for Mom. These reforms will just mean that I will be contributing more to her support than I already do. At the same time my payroll and income taxes will go up to pay the way for other moms.
Who could ask for anything more?
The Federal Government can’t wait to take over the nation’s healthcare with, so they say, intent to reign in the insurance companies. Yet, they can’t even handle the administration of Medicare Part D and/or Medicare Advantage...both plans are sourced out to PRIVATE INSURANCE COMPANIES. As is Medicaid in Ohio. Will they do the same with ‘single payer’...they aren’t going to administer it...who will?
