Shocking: Leftist Jon Stewart Talks about ClimateGate
David Horowitz's NewsRealblog ^ | 3 December, 2009 | Michael van der Galien

It’s unbelievable, but while the entire Left has decided to ignore ClimateGate, leftist comedian Jon Stewart broke ranks. On his show yesterday, Stewart shattered the silence surrounding the scandal and actually criticized the scientists involved. It’s yet another sign that Conservatives are mistaken to believe that the host of “The Daily Show” is one and the same as fellow Leftists like Chris Matthews and Keith Olbermann.

They had, he said, done tremendous damage to the image of science in general. Laughing an obvious fake laugh, Stewart said, ironically, that the emails in which the now infamous scientists admit they’re putting in data to “hide the decline” in global temperatures are,

nothing. He was just using a trick. To hide the decline. That’s just scientist-speak for using a standard statistical technique recalibrating data in order to… [suddenly becoming extremely nervous] trick you.

He even made fun of hero of the Far Left, Al Gore.

“Poor Al Gore. Global warming completely debunked via the very Internet you invented. Oh, oh the irony!”

Now, being the Leftist he is, Stewart couldn’t quite bring himself to admit that ClimateGate proves that the manmade global warming theory itself, has many weaknesses. Nor could he resist from lashing out at conservatives, in this case at Senator Jim Inhofe. But compared to his leftist brethren, Stewart has been Mr. Logic when it comes to ClimateGate.

By pretending this issue doesn’t exist — for 13 DAYS!!! — the media has put to rest any hint of a debate on whether or not it is biased.

I know leftists, even liberals, who still claim that the media is either unbiased or tilted conservative (”except for MSNBC”).

But here they are — enmass — all ignoring the same story, as if on command.

And such a huge story. Such a huge, huge story.

You can argue that the emails are fake, or stolen, or whatever.

But you can’t ignore them.

It’s huge.

And their ignoring this huge story makes it even bigger... and makes an even bigger story in and of itself.

Well, this video doesn't do what a lot of conservatives say it does. Yes, he makes fun of Climategate, but within the context of "crazy conspiracy theorists" will use this to make up stuff, not in the context of "look at how goofy this has been all along."

Sometimes our side is sooooo quick to jump on any drive-by source that appears to take our side that people don't look closely at the message.

That’s not what I got out of it. He is being critical and that is a good thing.

Our side is also quick to condemn anybody who isnt 100% behind every issue as a “leftist”.

Jon Stewart is a satirist. Satirists are out to ridicule everybody. The better ones disguise their own political viewpoints (which are no ones concern but themselves anyway) and point up not messages, but how those messages are presented.

It’s the job of Conservatives and Climate realists to convince people that AGW is, literally, a lot of hot air, not Stewart’s.

The debate is over, like these maggots like to say. The MSM is a proven propaganda arm of the Marxist regime in the Blight House.

Just watched that show and it was BEAUTIFUL!! John highlighted it without leftist spin and mocked it appropriately.

Funniest line: What do you mean you threw out raw data from the 80’s? I still have Penthouses from the 70’s!

I seem to recall a poll about where people get their news. Many said from watching Jon Stewart.

Sure he’s going to hedge his bet, so to speak, but at least he’s talking about it... unlike the KatieMen of the “news media”.

“It’s the job of Conservatives and Climate realists to convince people that AGW is, literally, a lot of hot air, not Stewart’s.”

Satirists aren’t some super breed who can float magically over the fray; they’ve gotta’ be coming from somewhere. Satire isn’t even possible absent a personal sense of right and wrong that, in the end, is shared by the audience. EVERYBODY, Jon Stewert included, has a duty to tell the truth.

“Jon Stewart is a satirist. Satirists are out to ridicule everybody.”

If you think Jon Stewart ridicules everyone equally, you either haven’t watched his show or are deaf and blind.

As for the comment about people not being behind every issue 100% of the time, what about people who tell you to your face twice or more a day how much they disagree with you? Can we call them leftists?

Ah but that there is the rub! As you say, the personal sense of right and wrong has to be shared by the audience. If Stewart was only coming from one direction, by neccesity he would alienate a proportion of his audience. It therefore follows that he needs to work at being non-partisan, and the best way to do that is to concentrate on the “eternal verities”. The point about the satire on climategate is not whether AGW is right or wrong, but that the proponents of it have been caught being dishonest, and are attempting to silence discussion. He is inviting you to laugh at their hypocricy and trickery rather than their beliefs per se.
