One land deal for cronies did NOT save the Mississippi economy. Give the good folks there a bit more credit (including many members of my family). His deal exhibits a fundamental flaw in his philosophy that can manifest itself in many ways. When someone believes that it is OK to take property from individuals at the point of a gun, they aren't fit to be president or governor. That is an example of statist thinking and is unacceptable.

I know people who were in the meetings where this was debated and it was for some time. It was a damned if you do damned if you don't call and Haley agonized over it and in the end made the best call.
And I say that as a land owner who may well come under this law with several of my properties.
To say it was simply for tax revenue is exceedingly ignorant.
