Could be, but it probably stems from some pointy-headed lawyer telling them they shouldn’t have employees even think about religion at work or they risk being sued.
Sued for what? Theoretically, you can be sued for displaying an American flag. So is Sonny’s going to take down all the flags? Or take pork out of their restaurants to avoid being sued by Muslims?
It’s an excuse to justify their bigotry.
