If I AM called, I HOPE I will have the courage to make the following speech (or something like it) to the judge:
Your honor, I do not support the policy of trying these combatants in a US criminal court. I oppose that policy so much that I can't imagine agreeing with ANYTHING the prosecutor will say in this case.
I oppose a policy which asks JURORS to stand on the front line to fight terrorists -- and put their names and families on that front line. This is the work of anonymous uniformed SOLDIERS, not the work of publicly identified CIVILIANS.
Therefore, I profess to being EXTREMELY biased against the prosecution in this case.

How glad am I that I did jury duty last year (2 looooong days), which I think exempts me from federal jury duty for at least a few years.
I'm also happy that I didn't even consider buying my apartment, because I live near the courts and this whole area is going to be one HELL of a fustercluck over the next few years, assuming these trials take place.
