McChrystal requested 60,000. The 40,000 was the number that the state media latched onto. 60K was McChrystal's figure for the required @ of men to win the war and limit US casualties. 40K was considered a viable # for a real victory, but would actually entail increased casualties. The "small" option was 20-30K, with heavy emphasis on special forces and would entail a heavy price in casualties. TOTUS just told McChrystal to eff off and also told the military to go and die. Remember, the snob doesn't want any victory. HE is an internationalist Marxist and one of his chief goals is to destroy any chance of American force being an option ever again.
