Always stupid enough to post a global warming article yet eager to devolve it into an intelligent design debate, I'll take a run. If the intelligent being exists WITHIN the physical world then that being is OF that physical world. If a being is within our physical world, it must play by our physical laws. Or if not, then that being must be capable of magic or miracles that disobey the physical laws of our universe. Now some would says that YES God certainly performs miracles and I would not actually disagree. Shoot, I believe that everything from the universe right down to my mere existence is a bloody miracle, and I thank God. Here is were we digress. I'd prefer to believe that God is OUTSIDE the physical world doing his miracles as he MAKES the physical laws. God is to great for tinkering with the physical world. Now you may need to believe that Eve picked an apple from a tree and gave it to Adam. I'm just amazed that God created a physical world where a man could meet a woman, and created that tree even.

Oh, I don’t need to believe that Bible stories are true in some literal sense. But it’s clear to me that consciousness creates a problem for those who want to deny that things that aren’t a part of material reality can actually exist. For instance, thoughts seem to be immaterial — no instrument can detect them nor ever will be ever to detect them, thus their existence is neither scientifically proveable nor falsifiable — and yet they exist. To me, this opens up the possibility of a God who is equally unproveable and yet who exists. And since our thoughts or our mind clearly interact with our physical body, it seems possible that God could interact with the physical world.

I don't see why this must be true, though I'll agree that from what I observe God doesn't intervene much in the physical world. He's pretty hands off.
