> Wow, I didnt think it was possible for them to shriek even louder than they have been. This one takes the cake...
Man, you should have been there for my Thanksgiving. My mild mannered brother-in-law (a lawyer) started disparaging Palin, quoting Tina Fey. I pointed out the flagrant error, and he insisted on a phrasing that wasn’t quite the SNL phrasing, but still disparaging.
I went to the computer, printed out the Gibson and Couric interview transcripts (nothing more) and handed it to him. If nothing else, it showed the quote in a larger context of Alaska discussion, plus proved his assertion incorrect.
He started bellowing loudly enough to raise every eyebrow in the house, and accused me of attacking him, and he insisted he wouldn’t take it from me.
I turned around and left the room, when I realized he wasn’t joking (since his behavior was totally out of character). Then my sister accosted me and asked if I really wanted to marry Palin. “Huh?” I asked. “What the heck kind of question is that?” If I asked her if she wanted to marry Obama just because she agreed with his policies, would it make sense?
It was truly a bizarre reaction on both their parts. Derangement.
I had a very similar spat with my suddenly hard core liberal sister back in the summer when she emailed me out of the blue and said that she did not want her *friends* exposed to my “racist” Conservative rantings (!!!) on my own Facebook page. Of course, my hideous crime was linking to Sarah’s Facebook page and posting favorable articles about her and her record.
My sister naturally “un-friended” me and she did not speak to me again until this past weekend when she emailed me and asked to meet for dinner tomorrow night. Go figure! Either she wants to apologize or else try and convert me to the Rat cause.
